Default Coming home from work....Redline

So today i was on my way home from work around 7:15. I take a 2 lane road with a lot of lights. There isn't really a lot of traffic around that hour so you can usually cruise through all of the lights. Well today see a Saturn Redline on my right. He comes up to me and matches speeds. It looked like he wanted to go from a roll but I wasn't gonna do 3 honks because the road was full of lights. He was giving little blips of the throttle (to show me "what hes got" i guess) so finally i give one back. I broke the tires loose in 2nd just to give him a preview of what was to come. So finally we hit a red light and get ready to race. The light turned green and i launch from 3k rpm (not sure what is good). I didn't want to break the tires loose so i wasn't giving it full throttle through 1st and 2nd. I was giving it just enough to stay ahead of him. Finally when i hit 3rd i pushed it to the floor and took off. Not sure how fast we were going, all i know is that when i let off (due to traffic...unusual) he was in my passenger side blind spot. I'm not really sure how many lengths this is maybe one of you do. When it was over we exchanged 'thumbs up' and went our ways.

You took it easy on him and then jumped out as you hit 3rd gear? In his mind that means he was about to take you until your turbo spooled up.

Don't encourage them.

haha i remember the last argument all the cobalt/redline guys were saying. "redlines can hang with LT1s and they're pretty quick!" well, if that's all they wanna do is hang with LT1s (which i consider behind within 4 car-lengths)... then that's fine by me. they're still losing...

never toy with ricers, they will claim a close win when they lose and you will actually help their EGO. Kill em as bad as you can, never give em an inch.

All I know is that my rental car from my wreck is an Ion! Pretty freckin' sweet

When I left the rental lot I remember thinking something was wrong because I practically had to floor it to accelerate. Than I realized there was nothing wrong with the car it is just a Saturn...

Of course I realize there is a big jump from the Ion to a red-line but still...

yea i did that with an SRT-4. i underestimated him, thinking i would catch him and reel him in like no tomorrow. well, i WAS reeling him in, but much slower than i thought. and by the time i just about had him, he shut down and claimed victory

huge jump, my gf has a standard 145 horse cobalt and that thing is terribly slow. My car which is by no means fast, can at least get out of its own way.
