Default 5.0 vs LS1

Well I got what I wanted last night. I was out at a friend's house with my girlfriend and we had left to go to the waffle house to eat and meet some more friends there. I pull out onto the highway and see a catfish with foglights behind me. I knew then it was a LS1 more than likely and not a V6. I let him get along side of me and its a Z28, I was hoping for a SS. He gets along side of me and has a damn loud exhaust! Much louder than my dinky Flowmasters and dumps. I reach in the back seat and open up the bottle because I want to pound this car into the ground! My 5.0 looks like a completely stock 1995 GT with 17" wheels. So I guess you could call it a sleeper? Anyways I drop it into 3rd gear and jump at him. I hear him downshift and he floors it. I didn't bite and I flashed my highbeams at him to slow down. He gets back next to me and I have the rpm's around 4,000rpms. I honk 3 times and let him get the jump alittle but it seems like we went at the same time. Through 3rd I put a carlength on him and about 1.5 or 2 more cars on him through 4th gear.

Because I like SS LS1's and Z28's are just a dime a dozen like a GT.

And you don't think 3-4 carlengths through 2 gears is impressive on a 100 shot @ 550psi bottle pressure against a modded LS1? hmmm ok

Not to be a dick but they are the same car bro, just the hood and spoiler are the main differences....that is unless it is a 1LE or B4C.

Either way, good run... a decently modded fox body can put a hurtin' on an unsuspecting fbody.

I know, I guess its kinda like a LS1 would rather race a 1994-1995 Cobra instead of a GT even though they are closely the same. I know just as much about LS1/6's than I do Mustangs so I need no schooling.

Yeah considering ABSOLUTLY NO ENGINE WORK. I hit 12.80 spinning with that setup last week @BMP here in FL. i always run into people like my buddy john who has a pretty bad 5.0, but he has a fi 5.0 ho crate with gt40 heads, and cam, with 100shot, with a 5 speed.
who cant run with what i have. Read my story. I couldnt even stall cause we were on the street. This guy john ran a 13.4 on the motor.

I'm going to take your car for example...you run 106mph with a 75 shot of juice. Yet someone else in this thread said my car was weak... Now I have a 302cid motor with less technology against a 346cid motor with more technology. My car ran 100mph with bolt ons and with BASIC h/c/i should run 110mph off the bottle. Keep in mind I'm still at 302cid with stock pistons, rods, rings, crank, rod bolts, blah blah, and your 346cid motor with a 75 shot of nitrous runs 106mph...Wow...The 5.0 is a stout motor.

You do realize modded means ANYTHING done to your car that will improve performance right? I like your car though

Technology is your choice. If you choose to run with ancient tech. thats ur choice.lol. 110mph thats NOTHING> with h/c/i I should be traping around 120mph. 120>110. Again your choice in displacement.

a kill is a kill but if you had to spray a motor only LS1 with just a few bolt on's then I would have been pissed! now spray for spray would have been a way better kill! I had a 90 coupe with just a cobra intake, shorty headers,H pipe,flow's,3.55 gears and a 100 dry shot and went only a 7.6 1/8 on the sauce and a 8.2 motor only but was faster on the street for some reason and I would get kill's against cars that I would normally lose to at the track?

I agree totally...I just like the under dogs. Such as I would rather own a white SS LS1 before I would own a 03-04 Cobra. Some people would say thats crazy but IMO I would enjoy a SS more. And 110mph has to be SOMETHING seeing as how you can't touch that with nitrous. And I would see your h/c/i LS1 with a dart block 347 with AFR 205s, Holly intake or RPMII, and custom can and I'd be past 120mph trap speed. (thats the motor I'm building but with a plate nitrous system to go with it) hehe

It would have been just as easy a kill on the motor.
