The 03/04 Cobra just gives you a better platform to start with. bottom line.. theres no DENYING that.

if GM offered a forged FI v8 at a CHEAP price we'd all probably jump on that instead. In fact, if ANYONE offered high technology thats quality at a low price, wed all be on it.

but the FACT, is the MSRP on an 03/04 cobra was starting at 37k about... even a firehawk in 02' would only top out around 33k. Ford just decided to offer somthing that imports have offered for 10+ years. and GM wasn't even looking at that market consider experienced drivers put 02-04' z06's into 11's!

so the POINT is... go look at a MK3 supra and they did what Ford just figured out over 18 years ago.

now go look at a Vr-4, or a TT dodge stealth or a newer gen supra SUB-1998 and you couldn't find a high mileage one for under 30k probably.

OK here is the deal. I have owned an 03 cobra with intake, x-pipe, catback and tune. It made 411 at the wheels. From a stop my best friend with a 98 SS with just 3.90 gears (ford 9") intake and exhaust (no headers) would be ahead of me until 3rd gear when I would pull ahead and keep pulling. Now from a roll I would get him pretty good. From a stop it takes 400hp to get them moving (yes mine was 4,000lbs with me in it (I weigh 185lbs.) Look at the track times of stock 03-04 Cobras, most of them run low 13's hittin the 12's here and there with drag radials. I now have an 02 6sp SS and love it (I also owned and 02 6sp trans am before the 03 Cobra) Yes a blower is nice but nothing beats the pull of an all motor car. You guys give to much respect to these Cobras. Other than the motor in mine I hated it. It was just a damn mustang with a good drivetrain. Yes they can be fast and yes the motors can take boost but get on SVTPerformance and look at the amount of people that have blown them up. On average the Cobras need 50hp more to run neck and neck with an 01-02 F-body. Give the F-body a cam and spray and cobras need alot to beat you. I like Cobras (hell I owned one) but they are not what you guys think they are and if you get beat by more than a car length from a stop by a non-pullied Cobra then you need the driver mod! Mine spent alot of time at the dealership getting the left head replaced (recall), drivetrain clunk, over heating etc.... Oh yeah when you blow the motor a new one will set you back $13K for a Ford replacement motor. Basically what I'm saying is all you guys need to stop with the an 03-04 Cobra is a trade up talk or how bad *** they are. F-bodys can be modded to run with just about anything dollar for dollar it just depends on how much you are willing to spend.

No man.. I'm 25.. and I control my own cars + house + investments + schooling

I always liked TA's.. 01/02 are the best years.. i got that..

I'm using the best components I can and maintaining VERY high/well.. and plan to KEEP my car for long term thing and build it as I go

I've had it for ALMOST 2 years.. how long have you have your cobra for?

I dont have to put everything into it and just go all out right now.. I can read and see what guys have been doing for the past years and go from there

I definately dont need to buy a 03/04 cobra to be quick.. thats for SURE.

I totally agree with 99ws6...they're not what everyone makes them out to be..from personal experience..i own a 99 Z28 with just a cat back exhaust system...from a dig against 3 cobra's only one ran away on me and he was pullied runnin 16 claimed pounds of boost...and that thing sounded like a 747 takin off...the other 2 were stock besides cat backs and had we had more room im sure they weren't goin anywhere...i love the look of them but u can't beat a LS1 motor...

And that is your opinion and nothing more. I've owned 5 Mustangs and NONE have been in the shop for repairs. Infact the only time they have been in the shop is if I was having something done to them. With that said you get a lemon with every car. I hate that you had one that turned you away from Mustangs. I myself don't like 03 Cobras, just isn't my cup of tea and you can ask anyone on SVTPerformance and they will tell you real quick. Also an all motor car does have a good powerband but you can get around that with anything. First an all motor car isn't going to come anywhere close to touching the instant boost the 03 Cobra makes. The 03 Cobra has a powerband about as flat as the desk my computer is sitting on. Now my Cobra has a centri blower and it makes pathetic torque but I make up for that with a set of 4.30 gears. My point being you can get around a lack of powerband. The new GT500 is running 121mph in the 1/4th with nothing but a tune and exhaust. There is no car around the same price range (without the retarded markup) that will touch that potential. And you say these motors aren't reliable? LOL Look at CHINI on SVTP, he is running 18psi of boost and making well over 700rwhp on the stock motor......You know you guys, I really like LS1s and I would own one over a 03 Cobra infact (white SS Camaro with black leather interior 6 speed <--dream LS1) but you guys need to snap back into reality. Ford answered to the LS1 with a blower. It made up the lack of cubic inches with a blower, deal with it. Run what you brung and hope you brung enough!

Well if you get what you pay for.

the GT500 should devalue pretty quickly and be in the shop regularly.

43k is a good price. but it's a Ford.. everyone in the World knows this.

and its SLOWER than an ls2 c6 vette STOCK vs. STOCK.. am i wrong? and the vette is 42k

so if you've already going to spending loads of money.. get what you like and mod it up... cause NOBODY is better if you have money.

bada bing.

The GT500 will hold its value simply because it has Carrol Shelby behind it. When he dies I see the value going up even more if they don't make as many as the 03 Cobra.

I'm glad you relized its a Ford...

And no it is not slower than a LS2 C6 Vette

Actually you can buy the GT500 and spend less on it than you would with anything else (ESPECIALLY a Vette) and have more power. Best bang for the bucks car not including the price of the car.

the gt500 is a real nice looking, fast car with a lot of potential to be faster at a RESPECTABLE price.

so +1 for Ford in 2007.

43K is a good price, but I havent seen a gt500 for less than 60K in my area. Stupid dealer markups...

Again finding a gt500 at sticker is difficult to do and I have been reading that they made pulley swaps much more difficult on them? I would take either one but the gt500 would be much more enticing if not for the insane dealer markups.

Wow, you both need to go kill yourselves. Not only are you carrying on a useless e-fight, but you're doing it VERY BADLY. I've seen quadripeligic monkeys with downsyndrom make better posts in a GM vs. Ford argument.
