To the thread starter - nice death. No shame in being beaten by a car that is underrated at 390 (time to start moddin! 
) In one magazine I read, it put down 381 at the wheels while a SVT engineer/rep (can't remember) was standing by. He "chalked it up to Ford's very efficient driveline". <---Yeah, my @$$!!!
To the guy who wanted a 12 sec FI stock import: I can't think of a true, bonefide 12 second car, but I know the Evo (8, MR? (don't remember)) and the STI were very close. Same magazine I quoted above ran a STOCK 03/04 Cobra vs a STOCK STI and the STI actually beat him at the track (1/4). Same guy drove both, and I believe the STI had beaten it by .1 seconds (Something like a 13.29 to a 13.19). Now maybe he couldn't drive the cobra like he could the STI, maybe it was too hot, maybe this, maybe that. But my point it on the same day (same track conditions/heat/etc) the big bad Terminator was outperformed by a little 4 cyl FI). You would probably guess I like the STI more than the Terminator, but you'd be wrong.
I have mad respect for any car/bike/truck, I've said it quite a few times. I don't care whether it's a Terminator, a LS1, BB or a SB anything, 4 cyl turbo, diesel or a "crotch rocket". If it's fast, it's fast and therefore fun. I prefer V8 power over anything, and I'm sure I'll never own anything else.
From what I remember, you can hear the whine of the blower. You may have to REALLY listen for it when it's stock...and when they do a CAI & definitely a pulley you can really hear it. Hell, my buddy had an 04 Ion Redline (it was pretty quick...251 at the wheels). When he removed the silencer it was loud, not to mention, once he started to do all his modding (I believe he was "stage 4") his car sounded like a Terminator (Redlines had an Eaton also)...minus 4 cylinders

My neighbor has a sub-9 69 camaro I've seen at the track.. My other friend has a 98' trans am that lifts the entire front end off the ground and does I believe 9's. Not fast enough for you? Including 10's STOCK capable benz'es I have rode in.

Can someone here compare the resale value of a Ford Cobra over a current F-body? Hell kid I know of some 1993 Cobras that would bring more money than your rattle box. I dont buy cars for investments. If I did that.. I wouldn't even own a GM.

Yeah.. I'd much rather have somthing else for the price of an 03/04 cobra.
and there's plenty of options down that route.
a lots of non-domestic cars that just look better, have better interiors, more options, better reliability, better technology and just offer more than any Ford will.

Good death to the cobra, def badass cars and nothing to be ashamed of. To hang with a BONE STOCK cobra your going to need at least LT's, duals, intake+ported TB, 25% pulley, and some good tires (basically every bolt on). If its modded (CAI, catback, pulley, etc) your going to need a decent sized cam on top of the bolts ons listed if its lightly modded (around 400 rwhp) and if its a 450+ rwhp cobra your going to need a huge cam, heads/cam, FI, or some spray to keep up with/beat it. As for the typical cobra vs ls1 battle that arises from a cobra/ls1 kill story, take it elsewhere as it becomes a huge ricer argument. "Ford needs a blower to hang with F-bodies" , "F-bodies have more displacement", "Give the f-body a blower and see what happens", "Cobra is a pulley swap away from 500 rwhp!"

I agree with you there are tons of cars I would pick over them as well....but between the two it isnt even a choice with me....cobra all the way and I love my WS6
