Nice kill, I ran a 300 a while ago with the 250hp V6. He had me off the line but then I pulled past him good once I hit 2nd gear. But just the other day I came across a 300 SRT-8, and that thing left me in his dust. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think they run high 13s. Anyway, glad to hear you won.

So... nice kill! Question...I raced a modded WS6 1998 TA from 60-125 and lost by about a car and a half, how do you think I'd fare against that SRT-8? Just wanna know in case I ever get the chance...

its funny how everyone gives u props, but when i raced a magnum SRT-8 right when they first came out and said i put about a car on him each time when we shut down(on the interstate) I got flamed for like 5 pages. I know they are fast and all and make more power stock but i mean ****, they are heavy as hell. Now modded its a different story. Good Kill man.

A stock LS1 can NOT hang on the top-end with an SRT-8. Not with 108-110mph trap speeds.
Will anyone be at Sears on 4/7? I'd like to see if any bolt-on LS1s can beat me (gears and DRs don't count - need to pick my battles!).
So far I've beat every LS1 on the street including a guy out here w/ a WS6 6m 'Vert and I had a passenger (both times). They were ALL stock or VERY close to it.
For perspective, I beat a 6.0 GTO 6m 2x by 1-1.5 cars recently.
Let me know if you guys can make it - better to lose and win against domestics than be lulled to sleep while the Civics fart their way down the track.

form what ive seen. the 300 srt-8s are low 13 high 12 cars stock. and trap anywhere from 106 mph to 111 mph. seem the 2006 and up srt-8 are quicker in et and trap speed than the 05's were. road and track has their run 13.2@108. and im seeing other times posted of 13.1@111 then i see a time of 12.9@106 mph. and a supposed 12.5@111mph 1.8 60ft 100% stock... im betting the guy had some better than "stock tires" cause most of the other guys all have intakes.
im seeing enough trap speed to gather a srt-8 should be able to walk away from an ls1 stock for stock it seems. 90% of us ls1 dont trap over 108 mph stock. seems for the srt-8's 108+ is common ground.
and mike if your keeping up with bay almost now depending on what you consider "keeping up with" his car shouldnt be anywhere close to keeping up with an srt-8 then. ive ran many a many 05+ stangs with your mods or more and they all trap 3-4 mph slower than me and usually 3-4 tenths back. which bascially is 4 cars. i wouldnt call that close
the day i ran this time. i ran head to head vs a 06 stang with a 75shot/intake and nittos and we ran identical et and traps. mabe its just me but i just have mixed reaction with the new stangs. ive probly watched 30 diff 05+ stangs run at tracks and probly 15 of those were stock or mabe had some intake and they all ran high 13's. around 100-102 mph. and the one with say intake exhaust headers only seem to reach 13.2 to 13.4ish range around 105-106 mph. but that just my experience

I am GM through and through, but I have to agree, run of the mill SRT8 vs LS1 on the hwy is a tie at worst, with an edge to the SRT8, weight is NOT that big a difference up top, SRT8's have dynoed showing they're closer to 450 at the crank, but as usual anything can happen in a street race so good kill
ps I too know someone runnin bonestock 300SRT8 that went 12.5's in good air, but mostly have witnessed 13.0-13.2's @108+ at Atco/E-Town

I think if i was stock it would of been a good race. It would of been close but he probably would of beat me by about 1/2 a car. They are fast but not very much faster stock for stock

A WS6 VERT weighs a bit more than a hard-top or t-top WS6.
I wont be in town until May, but im pretty close to you (San Ramon here). I'd be down for a run when i get home...
