...from what I have seen and raced they were nothing compared to my Z28 (whisper lid and dynomax bullit muffler) not even close, I dont see anyway it would run a 12. I could be wrong but from my personal expierence I left em off the line and from highway speed rolls, they couldnt even keep up off the line and I have the little stock sized tires (245) that was a 300SRT and 3 chargerSRT that I have raced the 300 was the only one I raced from a dig, dont know if that makes a difference just putting it out there.

Well I don’t know, I guess I have gotten all the answers I am going to get from a LS1 board. I have just been told that they all run 12.8's and that a guy I know with a stock C5 vett lined up agenst one and It cleaned his clock and I know he has multiple 11 second car's so he is not a shitty driver. I keep telling him the SRT-8 was modified but he seam's to think it was stock.

I have a bolt on LT1 & when my LS1 was stock it would still spank the LT1. Now that the LS1 is modded forget about it. I have driven a 300 SRT-8 and I was very impressed.

And too the OP, they are nasty but all that weight makes them a good matchup on the highway, even for us slow bolt on LT1's

Sweet Jesus...the amount of ignorance in this thread is incredible......im sorry to inform all of you that stock for stock the 6.1 liter HEMI is by FAR a superior, more powerful engine than the LS1...LS1 WERE the **** 6-7 years ago.......they are not anymore. Dont get me wrong they are very good engines but are not THE ****. Thats completely ignorant, and remember I have BOTH. The engine that must be consider THE **** in the GM lineup is the LS7...for now.....Wake up and smell the coffee....

How do you think I would do against my friends SRT-8 Charger? He has zoomers exhaust and an intake. I have a GMMG, FTRA, Lid, LS6 intake, P&P TB, & MSD wires?

You should take him if you really know your car and dominate your launch well. Dont be too confident though, an error and you could be in for a surprise! Have fun and be safe!
Zoomers and intake a good for aprox 15HP..20 at the most. I have intake, exhaust and B&G PCM flash and it has really, really awaken the beast.....Now I can turn off ALL the torque management.

well i hope i wasent included in ur little speach about people being ignorant. i posted about running one twice and getting two cars on him. i by no means think the LS1 is the end all of engines and have tons of respect for that which makes good power.

take it for what it's worth but here are edmunds test numbers on the srt-8
300C--- 5.7 0-60 and 14.1@105
charger--- 5.4 0-60 13.5@105

12's stock I don't think so with some mods yes
stock for stock I have to say LS1>SRT8

I would be willing to bet a well driven LS6 or LS2 CTS-V can hand an SRT-8 a nice defeat! I said they were fast for what they are but then again I am a little jaded as to what is fast and whats not!

I agree that the 6.1 Hemi is better stock for stock than a LS1 who could deny that? But 420 hp/420 lb ft is nothing an LS2 would have trouble with!

BTW, I never said that an LS1 was better than anything....just stated my experiences with peeps that are asking about em.....Maybe I raced bad drivers....who knows, but I walked all of em pretty good considering SRT's have ALOT more HP than what I have.....I guess old gm technology is inferior now

I would agree with you. those 6.1 hemi are pretty bad *** and do make more hp but weight plays a big roll which you know stock for stock LS1 FTW, but that doesn't mean they are ****, srt-8 cars are hella nice I would love to own one for a family car but I am a poor DBO ( ditch bank okie ) mod for mod ls1 FTW any day though. but I still get nervous every time I race one. just my .02

Why you say the motor may be FAR superior, the total car ( as far as the drag strip goes ) is not. Just look at the numbers from all of the tests. Real test by professionals, not oh my car does this or did that. In charger trim the cars I would say at best are equal. For a car that is at least 5 years newer not all that impressive to say it would be a good race. Would us fbody owners been happy back in lets say 99 saying our cars would be a good race for a 94 mustang? The motor may be superior and put out more horsepower but in the muscle car world it's all about the 1380'.

Default April 6th. Commerce GA Atlanta Dragway

any of you guys wanna put your BS talk where your mouth is that also live local to atlanta come to Atlanta Dragway on April 6th. there will be a large group of SRT8's there on this night. I not at all saying that my car or anyone elses car is faster. but two weeks ago I raced several stock and slightly modded Ls'1's and didnt loose once. i consistently ran 13.3's and 13.4's at trap speeds of 106-108. You guys need to know that a good driver will always have an advantage on a similar powered car regardless of weight. Our cars are definitley heavy but will definitley suprise alot of people. Hope ot see some of you local guys soon and lets just have a good time.

Theres more to car than been fast at the dragstrip. If you are measuring the complete performance, quality, etc of a vehicle by how well it does at the dragstrip then you have a limited view of what the whole new muscle car scene has to offer. Want a dragstrip car car?? Put it on a diet, strip the beast to bare bones, tune suspension, stroke/force fed the sucker/juice it if you like too, tune the thing (when full tuning is finally available) and you will have quite a car for the dragstrip.....me? I like a complete air condition, DVD, NAV, full creature comfort car that can stand its own against almost anyone who wants to play....even with two car seats in the back......if the devil wanted a station wagon this is the one he would own.
