Now if we could also get the definition of "sports car" down pat, the we could all actually understand each other

And just to give you guys a reference this is the guy that put a C5 Z06 into the 11's. So we know its possible for a 350-360ish RWHP C5 Z06 to run 11's but that doesn't mean its probable that the average driver would. My car is capable of 10's as it sits but in the real world being capable of doesn't mean much.

Ranger also ran a C6 Z06 to 10.85's. I wonder what he could get from my car?

LOL dude the GT500 is not hard to launch. Especially with the roots blower you can launch easier than with anyother car then roll into the throttle and still get a sub 2.0 60'. Like I said I have never seen one run in the 13's. Its usually 12.5 or better (but I don't know if they were stock or not). Do you think someone that has never been to the track is going to spend the average $60,000 for a Mustang that he doesn't know how to drive? Let me guess...you're the average Chevy lover that works at the Ford dealership. I love those types of guys.

He got a 12.8 or a 12.9 in a stock F-body.

Evan Smith is the man.

All it takes is a know how to launch the car then drive it like you want to break it.

I'm sure there are quite a few guys that bought the GT500 just for the name/image, and have no idea how to dragrace.

No I am a guy who has 100 more RWHP than you do off spray. 99% of the customers who buy a Shelby are not buying them to really run the rods out of them. Would you pay $25k over sticker for a car just to drag race? The price in and of itself is catering to people who have money and not car enthusiasts. If Evan Smith got a 12.2 out of one trust me the average one isn't clicking off easy 12.5's.

I agree, that pretty much sums up most of the buyers. And like I said I don't care what one runs in perfect conditions at a drag strip with a perfect driver. I don't drag race.

Well since your the expert on GT500's I will just sit back and listen to someone who has never driven one. After all what do I know about fast cars with traction issues?

I know a guy that went out and bought 2 ford GT's and he cant drive for ****! he modded one to a supposive 800hp so i hear and i watched him pull out of the gas station one day and he revved it up another 1000rpm or so and then slipped the clutch out hardcore i wouldnt mind seeing him at the track, i know he'd make a real *** of himself

I agree, BUT beware this car in the hands of someone who can drive and likes to mod. In capable hands, stock on good tires the GT500 is capable of going deep into the 11s. A few minor bolt-ons and the car is in the 10s.

I will add one to my stable when the price comes down to sticker and you won't want to think you ran across a run-of-the-mill old guy in a GT500.

I would have added a Cobra to my stable, but I won't pay $25k over sticker for any car. Thats probably why I am a little bitter about the car. And Evolution Motorsports broke the 10's but it was hardly with light bolt ons.

When I can go buy a 10 second Terminator all done, paying $25k over MSRP and then modding a GT500 seems crazy. In fact my friend was going to sell me his for a song and it has everything done that I would do to one.

one of these bolt'ons is a pulley for sure. I watched a GT500 make around 10 passes at a local 1/8th track with slicks and a pulley upgrade and a claimed 545rwhp. The best time he could pull off was an 8.0 @92mph. I don't see mid 10's from just a few bolt'ons.

Yep, smart. You can get 10sec daily driven KB/Whipple/ solid axles Cobras now for $23-28K Smart money.

9s with a CAI, pulley, tune and 75 shot. 10s with a CAI pulley and tune would be heavy bolt-ons?
