I had a 91 RS with a 305 tbi and it was very weak compared to my SS. I think the 91 would trap around 100 through the quarter so i dont think you got nothing to worry about. The only thing to worry aout is if hes tore it down and built it up cause then it might be fairly quick plus he maybe hideing a shot of nos.

Not sure which rear end he's got, but he sure is doing a lot talking about how bad he is going to beat me. I'd like to be confident, but it seems the possibility of him having NOS might be pretty good since he's being so cocky. I'll have to coax him into another look under the hood...

ONLY 350's had to be an auto...305 TPI's has the T-5 in it. TPI's are so restrictive, and 4.10 rear is too much for this car, thats what I have. If you just have a stock motor in it...you will just be winding out too fast.
Just info on the 350 Tranny issue...the reason that most ppl say they never put a 5 speed in it was because it would be at par with the vette in those days and the vette was supposed to be faster, thats why they did it.

really? i actually never knew the Iroc had the LO3...I always thought that the only the RS's had the LO3...but now that I look into it, it does. but your right, when people bought the Iroc, they usually went the the TPI instead of the TBI.
And also, I see plenty of people who have the L98 (350 TPI) and swap a T-5 onto it, and it works fine...so idk about the whole torque issue...

Wow,I can't believe all the 3rd.gen. haters we have here.I still love to drive my 84 Z28 T5.Sure I did a few mods to it to make it more fun,but when we go to car shows&meets people always comment on not seeing too many early 3rd gens.in great shape anymore. The car ran 14 flat w/street tires at the strip with the heavy cam in it a couple yrs.ago.The 80's didn't give us much from the factory.

id look at his car
just because he says its stock doesnt mean ****.id say hes ****** with you.not many people put 410s and slicks on a bone stock22yr old car.to set this straight it could be tpi first year by the way 215hp later years had 190 then 230,tbi 145hp or a carb wantin to say 160 not 100% on it.if its stock you will beat him,but id check out his car if there is money involved and dont let any one tell you a tuned port car is slow.with headers runners and a decent cam they run really well.

i see a lot of people with partially accurate thirdgen info, i have owned several so i can proly help.
1985 was the first year TPI was offered, the only other engine widely available in an iroc was the LG4(super waeksauce 305 w/4brl). the L69(305HO) was available still, but i believe the production number was barely over 1000 units in 85 and many of them were firebird models, so i highly doubt you have that to think about, not that it would be a problem anyway at a rated 215hp.
the 4.11 gears will be a big help to any of the engines offered in 85. assuming it is a typical tpi motor you can expect to see a good driver with a good launch get into the mid to low 14's at best if he has good suporting mods.
BTW, TBI didn't debute in the f-body until very late in the 87 model production year, and is more commonly attributed to 88 and later models. when released the LO3(305 TBI) was available in ALL camaro models including Z28/Iroc's. the base V8 in those models was the LB9(305TPI) but buyers could option down to the TBI motor to knock a few hundred bucks off the sticker price if they wanted.
p.s. don't sleep on TBI, i got mine (91 RS) down to 14.2's with the stock cam and chip still in it at full weight. they respond to little things waaayyyyy mor ethan you woudl think they should.
