Max HP out of a whippled cobra?
My buddy ran across a whippled cobra. He took some cell phone camera pics of the guys setup and it def says whipple on the side of the blower but he claimed 700 HP...Not sure if he meant rear wheel or flywheel, but what do most whipples max out at? Also, im not sure if there are different whipple models but here is a pic of his setup.

Most whipple cobras will put down in the 600 rwhp range. So unless he has a really built up engine to crank the boost on I would think 700 is at the engine.

We have an 03/04 cobra locally that put down somewhere in the 800+rwhp range. I think it had a whipple..... or was it a KB. Meh, those blowers/motors don't do much fore me. -Mark

Yea I figured around 600-620 rwhp, so that would equate to 700 hp at the crank, which is what he may have been talking about. I just havent heard of a whipple hitting 700 rwhp. What displacement is the whipple? I know they have KB 2.8's, but what size is the Whipple? 3.2?

Oh Ok, yea I wasnt calling BS on the guy as my buddy said it was insanely fast and the guy knows his stuff, just wasnt sure if whipples could hit that high of a power number...thanks for the info guys.

Yeah...that's a 2.3L Whipple. Too bad we can't see the lower pulley or I could
give you a good idea of it's power output. Chances are that it's around 600rwhp.
However, it's very possible to make 700rwhp with one...but it has to be spun
to the moon, have tons of timing, race gas, etc.

Yea he just took some quick pics with his camera phone so he didnt get any shots of the pullies. Thats good to know though that the whipple can make that much power. Im not one to instantly throw doubt at what a car can put down, especially an 03-04 cobra with a whipple, just when someone says 700 hp thats a ton. My buddy said the guy knew his **** though so i cant see him lying about it.

^ ^^^ What they said. More than likely in the 600RWHP range. You won't see too many on the street pushing 700RWHP because of the timing advance and octane needed to run that amount of power. But 700+RWHP is VERY possible, but unlikely just to run into it on the street like that.
