So I get a call around 8 o clock that he has finally worked up the ***** to run me (I posted the "350Z Talking Trash" thread by the way). So I meet him about ten minutes from the house and we head to a 3 lane road and he says we are doing a 15 roll. Well, I have bald Sumitomo's and so I told him, we'll do it but I'm just gonna spin. So I said after a 15 roll we are doing a 30 so I can get some traction. So we head out and we hit it from a 15 roll and my car is fish tailing and hitting the rev limiter cause it is an automatic and my hypertech programmer has been messing up ever since I put this gear in. So my car wouldn't shift to 2nd. When it finally did, he had me by about 3 cars. So I was like ok, that's fine. So we come back and do a 30 roll and I actually hook and leave him by about 6 cars before I even got to 3rd gear. So then we hit the interstate and we are doing a 40 roll and I leave him again by about 3-4 cars. Then another from about 50 and again I get him by about 4-5 cars. So then we come back to the 3 lane road cause I was determined to beat him from a 15 with no tires. So we are going 15 and we hit it. Well, I spin through 2 gears and still stay dead even with him. Once I finally stopped spinning I pulled about 2 cars on him. Then again, and again. and again until finally he gave up. He doesn't realize that my car is setup to run from a dig and that is where my strength is. But when you have no tires, it doesn't matter how much power you have. He doesn't seem to understand that but I still shut him up anyway. All I can say is, when I put my M/T street radials on, I expect an 8-10 car win instead of 2-3.

Hell yea, he'll probably do a couple mods, call you out, and still get beat once you finally get some traction.

The Z was a 6 speed with CAI and exhaust. And yes, he made excuses every time. Missing gears, different stuff. The last run he said that he turned traction control off so he lost some ground because of that. And I was like, "well why would you turn traction control off if you're about to race somebody?" So I know he was lying. Just trying to make any excuse he could. And if he wants to know something about traction control, try hooking up on bald tires. haha, basically like glass. Otherwise I would have really embarrassed him, there's no doubt in my mind.

me too, but it was out of nowhere. he just called me and I had just gotten back from a funeral. I didn't even get to change out of my dress clothes. I am hoping he will still go to the drag strip and I will tape it there. But my friend says that now I beat him so many times he probably won't go to the drag strip cause he knows I will be there. My buddy was supposed to tape it but like I said, he was just out hanging out with him and wasn't expecting him to wanna run me. And also, I just found out he got a short throw shifter installed today so that's why he was pumped up to race me.

Not to sound like a dick, but gears really helped you out in this race. If you would have stuck with the stock gear, it would have been closer. If two stock ls1's ran and one had 3.73 gears, the one with gears would win. Its not that it makes more power, its that it produces power sooner. Power is moved to the left on a dyno graph.

you have got to be psi.he is the only other person who would ask this.he was spinning and still won.the gears werent helpin any.you need traction to get the benifit of the gears.350zs are turds.and yes a turbo does help as it does on any n/a car.

Well I know that but I also have an automatic transmission with shifting problems right now. Like I said, before the gear I had the programmer shifting perfectly. Of course, I was spinning so bad tonight that it was really making my transmission go crazy. One time it went from 1st to 3rd and then I had to downshift it again by stomping it. If I try to manually shift then it will just bounce off the rev limiter even when I shift it up to 2nd. I have to figure out what's going on with that programmer. So yes, the gears would have killed him from a dig if i was hooking and my car was shifting correctly. But remember, I ran him from a 40 roll and a 50 roll too. And still beat him by about 3 or 4 cars. Next mods after tires are long tubes and probably ls6 intake. Not sure yet though, those are just my plans as of right now
