Default Got a carrera, almost a viper

Well on my way back from san diego today I was cruising down the 805 and this gunmetal GTS viper was coming up on me so I decided to see if he would go, didn't think I had a chance but still. So he goes by me at about 90 and I follow in step, we go about a mile or so and it opens up enough to have a good size run in 2 lanes, so I pull up next to him he looks over and smiles and I tap the throttle a little, I hear him downshift and sit for a second so I get ready. He lays into and I quickly punch it, he never gained much ground on me at all though, at around 135-140 he had about a car and a half maybe 2 cars on me, so I was quite suprised. So spent the rest of the 805 and a bit of the 5 cruising at 100 with this guy, cool to see a guy actually using his viper

So I get a little closer to my house and I look in my rear view and see what at first I though was a boxster a little ways back, so I'm thinking easy kill and let off to let him catch up with me. As it closes in much to my dismay I can see its a carrera, never dropped behind him and not knowing much about all the different models I just hope its a lower class one. So he pulls up next to me and we get about a 1/4 mile down the road till he really looks over at me. He had his wife/girl friend/whatever in the car so I am hoping to send him home with a loss so he says something to the wife and she looks over at me and my passenger one of my close friends. She turns back to him and says something, a second or two later I hear the downshift and I am ready. So he lays into it and I punch it, we started around 45-50 so I got a nice double downshift and I knew he was toast. So he stayed with me will around 75 and I started to pull about a car length on him up to about 85-90 and got to 100 and he was a good car length back and there was some cars up ahead and I let off and he flies by. Light turns red and he stops and I was making a right, and the street has a little bend thats seperate from the people that go straight so I went really slow around that and was quite excited so I looked over laughing and I see the wife covering her mouth laughing and the guy didn't look very happy at all. So I was quite happy with the drive home all and all. Just thought I would share, in case anyone wonders mods are whisper lid dynomax bullet muffler dumped (stock manifolds and Y-piping) and 3:73 gears

Carrera 4 coupe and Cabriolet come with a rear-mounted, 325-hp 3.6-liter six-cylinder engine. Top speed approaches 180 mph, with zero-to-60 mph times of around five seconds...i guess that's more like it...disreguard my previous post

Nice kill, surprised you stayed up with the viper but I believe the porsche one, some of them despite their looks aren't all that fast.

There's two engine's available for the carrera. The S version are almost as fast as the turbo.

Porsches are purty fast. The 996 cab depedning on if it is a 99 to 2001, the 2002-2004s were faster. and the 997's are on a whole different level. The porsche could have had tiptronic and not been 6 speed manual. i think that the porsche was probally a 99 to 2001. The 02s and above are pretty fast stock. carrera s and the turbo are hella fast. Just a little knowledge... i would have paid cash to see the look on the porsche guys face, he probaly went home an killed his wife for laughin at him, and then killed hiself..

1996-2002 GTS Vipers dyno 410 rwhp and 460 rwt SAE on average. They run 11.7-12.4 at 116-121 mph depending on driver/conditions...

The point is that a GTS Viper is a pretty fast car. But ACHOTS

I'm going to have to agree. A viper GTS would smoke any stock or bolton f-body. I know, I've raced vipers before. That shouldn't even have been a race with those mods. I wouldn't even consider that modded these days.

Pretty sue the guy you raced was in third gear at 50-60 when you started. If hehad been in second gear than it would have been nasty..But in third gear at 50-60 you had a chance...

I know the SRT10 Vipers dont look that fast on paper..Seems like they only run 12.0-12.2 at 118-122 in all the magazines..While the F430/911TT and C6Z06 all seam to run in the 11.7-12.0 at 121-126 range...

The differance is that a SRT10 dynos around 500 rwt bone stock while a c6z06 dynos around 430 rwt and the F430/911TT arent even in the 400' rwt..

The Viper has a much harder time putting the power down then it's competitors with all that tourque..

But if you go to streetfire.net you'll see many examples of stock SRT10 Vipers pulling C6Z06's and F430's from a roll..

Give up already. The C6Z is the quicker and faster car. It's been shown time and time again in magazines and on video. Don't worry though, when Dodge puts 600 in the new Viper they should have enough to beat the C6Z.
Nobody even mentioned the C6Z vs. the SRT yet you feel you have to bring it up. It had absolutely nothing to do with this thread.
Fadi has told you 100X the C6Z is faster and he's owned both. I don't know why you cannot accept it You don't have a dog in this hunt.

Ive seen just as many vids of SRT10's beating Z06's as i have the other way around. And a few viper guys have claimed victory as well..

Is a Z06 faster...YES..But 1 mag out of 5 that ran same day same track comparison test got a quicker ET out of the viper than z06..As well as all the recentvids..

A guy on Viper alley recently raced a c6Z06 at the strip both 100% bone stock..

the SRT10 ran a 11.9 at 122 and the c6z06 ran a 11.7 at 124...Again the z06 was faster but come on man it's pretty close..

The C6z06 has done 0-150 in 17.5 and the SRT10 has done the same in 19.5..

Point of all this is that while the c6Z06 is a tad faster everyone treats it like it's GOD and unbeatable while the SRT10 wich is ( only a few tenths slower and just as fast on a road course) gets these stories of guys pulling them with bolt on LS1's on a daily bases..

somthings just not right their. My Viper has 445/497 ( about stock SRT10 numbers) and ive held off 408's..Let alone bolt on 350 rwhp LS1's..

No matter what i say this is a chevy forum..So go on praising the LS7 450 rwhp mid-high 11 C6z06 and keep all the bolt on LS1 kills for the V10 450 rwhp high 11 low 12 SRT10.
