My uncle just bought one a couple months ago and I was fortunate enough to be able to drive it, and let me tell you what, you can say whatever you want about the weight but bottom line the thing is bad fast. I couldn't beleive how hard it pulled. You can hear the whine from the supercharger at all rpms but it gets pretty loud inside the car when you start to gettin on it. I think its a sweet car personally, it seems to handle really well considering the weight and it hooks good too. The shifting position is very sweet also and has really short throws unlike the the previous style gt that I drove. Say what you want but I don't think you can rag on this car till ya drive one.

I for one am not ragging on the car at all. It hung with me to 110 mph and was only 2 cars or so back after the 80-140 sprint was done.

I think had we continued past 140 mph the RWHP and Aerodynamics differences would have gotten more and more painfully obvious.

I'm not saying you personally are ragging on it but alot of people seem to. And yeah the thing is about as aerodynamic as a brick so I can only imagine what you would've done to him if you kept racing.

Only the Super Snake Package GT500 is $70,000. The GT500KR will be $50,000 with atleast 40 more bhp, but could be closer to 600 hp at the crank. I read the 08 KR ran the 1/4 mile 11.8 stock at 120 mph.

Eesh... still though 68K? Makes the Terminators a hell of lot more tempting and badass (and those owners are probably laughing to the bank that their cars are holding value quite well, ala C5Z style)

Now, correct me if I am wrong, but your car dynoes 497rwhp, so you have about 550bhp, correct?

Now I have never personally seen a C5 Z06 run, but I hear they hit 12.4-12.8's bone stock with a good 60* on a nice pass.

Whats weird to me is, a C5 Z06 will dyno about 340-360 (thats what I have read on here [ LS1tech ] ).
So how can your car, with 100-150 more rwhp, not run an easy 11?
Is it just me, am I missing something or have I got some of my facts twisted?

Before I went out last night to run my car on the abonded highways I pulled my vararam apart and cleaned all the junk out of the air box. Grass clippings, newspaper and an ungodly amount of dirt and bugs were packed into the filter. Must have picked them up on my way back from Texas. My car was being choked to death. I got all the mess cleaned out and put my backup filter in and it ran a lot better. Even the small surges were gone.

My best time at Milan was only 12.3 at 121.6 due to first time at the track, street tires at 32 psi, horrible 60 ft times and a clogged air filter. I will be better prepared next time. I will have a clean filter in place and 305 DR's at 20 psi the next time I go to Milan Dragway. I'll be posting 11.4 or 11.5 soon enough.

Those 3.42 gears are more suited for the street then the track too. 3.73's would've been perfect but could've should've would've. I am glad I stayed with the 3.42's. Unbelievable gas mileage on trips (30+ mpg).

Vettes are tricky to launch w/o wheel hop on a street tire and that was Doug's 1st trip to the track in years. 2.28 is absolutely terrible as I'm sure you'll agree. He is losing a lot of time in the first 330' I guarantee. I took my Cobra to the track on dried out M&H's and it went 12.3@116. Bolted on my buddy's et streets and it went 11.7@122. The surprising part to me was that it actually picked up mph with a better tire. I always thought it was the other way around.
On a side note my Z06 ran 12.0's with Nitto's and headers. A/F 11.2:1 No tune.
He'll do better next time.

My numbers are 490 rwhp 445 rwtq. 3.42 gears and street tires at 32 psi. Terribly clogged air filter and air box. VaraRam is a true ram air system, the bad thing is it rams everything, not just air.

Your air filter/air box and gears have nothing to do with you not running 11's. Its your 60ft and/or shifting. 121mph is plenty of power to runn 11's. Get the car to hook and 11's are in your future. Practice, practice, practice.

That's what I love about drag racing. You can have all the power in the world but if you can put it to the ground you'll get beat by cars with a lot less power. Not knocking you allngn C5 just simply stating that traction is crucial.

Not to say on Dougs car it might or might not... but

My brother had a 91 RS 5.0 TBI, and we took it out of storage to drive it because we had to move it into another shop down the road.

To make a short story shorter, he lost about half of the cars power all the way there.
From the moment we started it, thing sounded like crap and ran wierd.
It had only been sitting for 2 weeks.
We get there, park it and this smell is coming from the hood, so we take off the top of the air cleaner to find a mouse nest the size of a cake.

Cleaned it out, and the car ran 100% better.
Not stickin up for anyone here, but you know just as much as anybody how a car breathe's greatly affects its performance.
And if the filters clogged, and it can do more then you think.

Just my .02

I hear ya on my shifting and 60 ft times, but I am saying I should be trapping more then 121.6 mph. I am looking for 124-126. I'll do better next time when the DR's are on the back at 20 psi. Thanks for the comments everyone.

Good points, I agree and will do better next time. Do you think a 124-126 trap is possible with my car if I can hook in the 1.7's for my first 60 ft ??
