Shitty looking LT1 kept up, WTF????

Default Shitty looking LT1 kept up, WTF????

Raced a crappy looking 96 Z28 M6 , started in 2nd and went to 4th. I was shifting at around 5700, he was drawing out to around 6100. Races were about even with him nudging out here and there. I was really surprised he kept up. I thought I would smoke him as it looked like a crappy 150K LT1. I was in my 02 Z28 with lid, maf , and tb. After we pull into a spot and he pops the hood, claiming he has only a catback and K/N. I said bullshit and he plays dumb. I think he had heads and a stealth cam or a hidden nitrous setup. What do you guys think? isn't a LS1 supposed to smoke a LT1.

BTW: I don't think anything is wrong with my car. Right before this race I ran a nicely done 21psi talon and was even in 3rd. Last week I ran a 99 T/A A4 with LT + catback and won by a little.

If he had a hidden nitrous set up he prolly would have beat you....mabe just a bad day for u and a good one for him

I've raced a "bone stock" 96' LT1 M6 SS from 2 30mph rolls on a shitty *** ******* street and he pretty much kept up. I was asking him what he had done. He kept saying it was torque. On a better street, and different speed I think the outcome would be different. From a dig it was no contest.

I can see this happening. You dont really have mods that add alot of power. Maybe he was a better driver.....???

why does an lt1 have to have a cam and head or nawz to beat anything haha. it is possible from your mods. and no LS1's arnt suppose to smoke LT1's ... who knows maybe he had some gears or something.

I used to surprise folks all the time when I had my stock 16x8 silver wheels with M/T radials...The car looked stock and with my smallish cam didn't sound too modded, but it ran 11.50s @ 118 in that trim and surprised more than a few cars...Sounds like he had a bit of a sleeper, pretty cool...

Put the stock MAF back on. I bet you'll do better. Aftermarket MAF's are nothing but trouble. They usually cause problems.

i have a crappy 170k mile lt1 with full exhaust and gears, and can usually hang with/beat stock/lid catback ls1's

I thought there was no difference between shifting at 5700 and 6000 on a stock motor. dosnt it start to fall off after 5500?

well at the strip i picked up almost 1mph by going from 5500 to 6000

but thren again i make more power than stock and my car breathes better up top so i guess thats why mine puils to 6k
