Default M6 camaro vert vs toyota mr2 turbo

i got a 2000 m6 camaro vert with slp lid/exhaust and i was just riding around on friday night with a few friends. My friend had a mr2 turbo with an engine swap.. not sure wat kinda engine it has.. anyway we were goin around 20 and he knows im way faster so says give me a 5 sec head start haha.. so he goes and i think he was in 1st gear maybe 2nd.. i was in 2nd goin around 20ish and i waited like 4 secs and i hit it.. his car is fast and i finally get up to him at about 100 shifting into 4th.. i pass him at about 110 and shutdown at 118 when my gay speed limiter went on..i was amazed to see how fast this car was.. i was thinking it was a 15 sec car haha.. y does my car have a limiter at 118?? does anybody else have this??

Thats way wrong. Stock speed limiter is 160, and hell, if you're stock, the rev limiter in an m6 is around 130-135. And he probably has the 3-gste (I believe thats the engine I'm thinking of) running the stock turbo. I know a guy with that motor, and with up'd boost, larger FMIC and exhaust was running about even with a stock S R T 4.

I've heard the limiter depends on what tires came from the factory. The F1's got the 160 or whatever, if it didn't have those tires they lowered it to like 120mph or something, not 100% positive but I remember reading something like that a few years back. Or maybe someone just reprogrammed it themselves if ya got it used. Wouldn't mind setting mine at like 80 so I couldn't get into too much trouble . Good kill though.

im not a genius...but id say since it is a vert for 1...probably didnt come with z rated tires for another...so the governer kicking in around that speed sounds about right...just cause its a v8 camaro, doesnt mean the governer is at 160...if you want it faster, get the governer bumped up...but get performance tires first, that way you dont blow a tire at higher speeds

the limiter on my vert was not set at 118mph, for sure. hptuners showed it at 160mph from the factory and prior to checking, i already had a few sprints up to 120+.

the v6's had the 118mph limiter. my v6 vert had 235's. i took that thing off and the fastest i got it to was about 125 or so without nitrous (and it took forever to get there).

check your RPO codes and see if it has the QCB code in there (235/55/16)

Those turbo MR2's can be very fast, they are pretty light and the stock motor puts out about 200hp and close to 200 tq I believe(been a while) It only take a couple mods for them to be mid 13 second cars. There are quite a few running around now with huge turbos making 600+ whp. Lol, we used to have a 91 Turbo, it used to suprise the hell out of people (then again it was far from stock)

Lol, it was dirty, it sat most of the time, headgaskets were notoriuos for blowing on those things.

Mr2's dont have fmic.

Also, the 3rd gen mr2, is just as fast as a supra stock. They have the capability to run mid 13's from the factory. The US mr2's are the ones with 200hp and the Jspec can range from 225-275(caldina 3sgte).

Yea, this guy (been a while, but still pretty damn sure) had a FMIC. I could be mistaken though, because hes not a friend, and hell I don't even really like the guy lol. Hes a cocky ******* that thinks just cuz he has a turbo, hes god's gift to man. Hell, when we autocrossed once, he only beat me by 1 second, and it was his 5th time or so out there. It was my first, and I was hitting 51 seconds to his 50 seconds, and I couldn't even get more than half throttle on that track. And sorry for the hijack lo

i have heard this many times....i have a vert and i have been well over 120 many times, hell even with the top down. But anyway nice kill. Two of the closest races i have had have been with decently modded mr2's, they are some quick lil cars when modded correctly.
