98 trans am VS 97 Sr20 det 240sx
Well seems like the nissan fever has struck my town hardcore latley .I have 5 friends who all got different years of 240sx or 300zx.So finaly a friend gets his car goin after doin the sr20det swap on it and the rumours started flying about how fast it was.So we decided to do a friendly race tonight
So wee pull out of a back road and get on highway and start rolling abou 15mph and i slow down to get even but we couldnt never get side by side to nervous i guess. So im at about his door and he kicks down on it and just hooks and go jumps about 1 1/2 car to 2 on right off the bat were im spinning .I hit second and slow his pull down so i short shift to third to try to quit spiining and start gaining ground and about 85-90 i pass him i shut down and im about 2 cars ahead of him Not bad considering the big jump he got right off the bat .HIs car surprised me it just hooked and went time for me to invest in some nittos. here is he mod list and a pic of his right after the swap
SR20DET engine swap
*GReddy fmic, and 3" exhaust
*HKS intake, turbo timer, boost controller,SSQV blow off valve
*stainless turbo outlet
*Project Nissan downpipe and tespipe
Running 12psi when we raced tonight
And me with cam and intake 365 hp 347 torque .

He should be at about 245-280hp max. Those stock t25 turbos are only good for 325-350hp. So if he want to make more power he'll have to go bigger. Good **** though. Yeah Time for Nittos. They can be fast cars if modded right.

im sure he has alot more money in that car than i do considerign he baught his car in workign order with a stock ka motor, then got the sr20det motor and ecu thats 3k right their just for the motor and ecu ,then the accesories .But regardless they are fun cars and they dont seem to weigh alot to so power to weight is goin to be great when he upgrades his turbo and goes just a little more boost.Should be a good Friendly rivalry between us lol

Well w/ n2o you could PUSH a t25 to that but w/o id think 285-300hp MAX. t28 will go 350 w/o n2o and 380 w/ n2o.
sorry all my turbo friends use n2o so i'm used to those est.

I doubt he has 250WHP on only 12PSI. If he had a aftermarket intake manifold and cams maybe. It sounds like he was running more than 12PSI to keep up with a cammed car till 90.
Good kill!
As for more cost info, you can pretty much start with 10K and nothing else and get a great SR20ed 240. The KA can be sold pretty easy, since people are using those in hi-po apps. Decent chassis that are running well cost like 5-6K. Though he has the newer one which IMHO looks much better. That might have been more like 7-8. SR20 motors are like 3K. If you really want to poke into the junk bin, you could probably build a decent stockish one for 1500 yourself.
I would figure total cost is around 10K, minus maybe a grand for the KA24.
Pretty decent bang for buck. Then again, with an LS1 you get a similar performer for a similar price that is a lot easier. Different strokes.

When my 5.0 was making 328rwhp I pulled on my buddies 240sx with the SR20 swap @ 277rwhp 250rwtq by about 2 carlengths through 3rd and 4th gear. IMO with your power you definately should have pulled alot harder. Your car must weigh ALOT.
