Lol, it has nothing to do with your race, it has to do with the fact that its a TAURUS If your beating those cars then good for you, thats a hell of a sleeper. Lol it just reminds me of back in the days when those cars were new and we beat the hell out of my friends parents Taurus.

To the OP, who did you have build your motor or did you build it yourself? If you built it yourself where did you find better internals for it cause i know that motor will not take 22 PSI stock. I've had 2 SHO's, a 95 and a 98. Both were automatics though and those automatics SUCK. Blew the transmission and the engine in the 98.

I have JE forged pistons, slight overbore (to 3.2L), other than that, engine is bone stock. 60K+ miles boosted. Stock piston'd cars see 15-18psi routinely, but I prefer having the forged JE's for reliability/longevity and I like having the ability to boost the snot out of it when I want. The engines themselves can take a TON of abuse. I have no fear of boosting to 25psi as far as the engine is concerned. I need more MAF and fuel pump before I do that though (upgrades which are coming soon).

Yes, my first post. And yes, as you can see by my screenname, I'm a SHO guy. Former SHO guy, actually. But I registered here today because I've meant to for quite some time.
About 3 years ago, I sold my '92 SHO and traded in my Accord for an '04 CTS-V.
Toolman is a good friend of mine, and yes, he has a problem with introducing himself. As many of you have seen, he is legit. That car is scary legit.
As a former SHO guy, I have great love for the SHO. I grew up a GM guy, even moreso a Chevy guy. But the SHO was 90% about the Yamaha engine and 10% Taurus. The Yamaha is an incredible revver and with boost, it is deadly. Toolman has done a lot of work to make it go and like any N/A engine set to boost, it requires a lot. Toolman's Taurus, like any Taurus and FWD car, sucks off the line. Really sucks. But the speed it makes up is incredible.
It really shouldn't be that much of a surprise with the wide distribution of boost among the racing world today. But that SHO is a beast.
For me, I like driving my V to Watkins Glen or Lime Rock or VIR, slapping on the Hoosiers and swapping pads, tooling around, then driving home. The V is newer, it's tight, and it's under warranty. That SHO would be way too much work for me.
Anyway, combining my intro post and semi-defense of the turbo SHO. Look forward to getting settled here as in the next couple years, I'd like to find a nice used, modded C5 or C6 Z06 to make as a track car as the V steps back. And I'd like to find it here.

I was at this event and have video proof... Even posted it on the Vette forums. I saw all 3 of Tim's runs followed by 1 or 2 C6 ZO6 Vettes and noted instantly that Tim was faster.
I later had a ride in the car and it pulls hard... It feels a lot like my Taurus :-) (power wise, just different curve).
I bet these guys wouldn't believe it if I told them there was a rear-mounted turbo SHO that probably had just as much power as you did Tim, especially when he hits 17 PSI in 3rd and 4th gear.
Good job Tim!

I see posts all the time from fbody owners on M5 boards, porsche boards etc claiming kills on their cars. Everyone does it.
