Default Bit off a piece of an EVO 8

Well, I was on the freeway last night heading home and as Im changing freeways I see an EVO 8 in front of me. The freeway exchange is a nice little underpass with a perfectly cambered road, perfect for 100+mph runs.

Anyways, I can tell the EVO is in it though the underpass as soon as he sees me get on his ***. I stayed glued to him through the underpass and until it opened up to 2 lanes, then being about a car behind him I nail it, he hit it at roughly the same time and we are off...

When I hit it, we were at about 70 and I made the mistake of only dropping to 4th, so he pulled another car on me instantly, I quickly realized my screw-up so I dropped it down another gear to 3rd and pull it up to redline (90mph) I hard shift it into 4th, giving the rear tires a little chirp and quickly make up the lost ground. By the time I hit 5th, I had covered the ground that I started with between us and then some... I shut it down by around 130 and had a good 3 cars on him easy.

The EVO was a quick little devil, had at least exhaust and his blow-off valve was quite loud, Im wondering if he turned up the boost at all. All in all, Im just glad I didnt meet him at a stoplight. Even with my DR's, I think I would have had too much catching up to do.

nice kill. Those EVO's are pretty fast with the right driver. I hate making shift mistakes.

Yeah they are... From a roll though, they arent all that... Its like running a decent LS1 F-body or a nicely modded Mustang GT. From a dig though, they are ******* brutal!

You gave a Mustang GT props. Quick put the flame suit on

Kidding

Nice kill on the EVO. I still haven't met up with one.

I ran with a wrx once and that thing was fast. It sounded like a twin turbo and a huge blow off. But it was still no match for the V under the conditions that we were in.

I like the mustangs man... I actually was looking real hard at a CLEAN 01 Cobra with full suspension and chin spoiler.. The car was schweet an had some good pull to it. I probably would have bought it if the guy wasnt asking 15k for it. So I looked a little harder and picked up my 5th F-body... My 01SS and I couldnt be happer... Unless maybe I found a Termi for sub $15k in perfect shape.

Good Kill.... i've never had a run in with a EVO. Just a quick 1st and 2nd gear pull against a WRX STI.

Thanks man... When I saw it, I couldnt pass it up... Especially since he was only asking 13K and I knew I could get him down quite a bit. He was the second owner and I ended up stealing it from him for $11500. The other cool thing is that my fiance has a '00 WS6 that is pewter, so we now have matching f-bodies... I just gotta keep mine faster than hers

Sounds like a good kill. The VIII's don't really wake up till you add cams. IX's are alittle better though with the MIVEC.

To be honest, I dont think Ive even seen an EVO IX on the road yet... at least not one willing to run...

How much faster are they out of the box?

Well there have been several that have dipped into the 12's stock. There traps are about 104-106mph though, compaired to the VIII's 101-103mph.
