GT500 vs C6
A guy that works across the street from me just picked up a used GT500 last week and he’s been trash talking even since. We are both running full exhaust CAI and a tune. On the way home from work last night at around midnight I ran across him on the freeway and we had a few runs from 40-120. To be honest I was very very disappointed in the performance of the GT500. I immediately jumped out on him and proceeded to pull about 3 cars up to 120 MPH. I know they weight about 1000 more lbs than the vette but I thought the extra 100 hp would make up for that.
He’s claiming he had "traction issues" so we are going to have another run at it tonight from a 60 MPH roll. I'm sure the results will be the same.
Its this typical for a C6 GT500 race or should it have been closer

That sounds about right if you are running @ 12.5.. I actually raced one last night too, and it was basically even. I should be running a 12.7-12.8 1/4 mile.
I don't know how well those cars respond to mods, but it does seem slightly slower than expected.. Keep in mind he weights 3900 pounds..

I'm around 12.5 on my super sticky run-flat tires. I think if I got some DRs I could be down in the 12.2 - 12.4 range. I think going from a 2nd gear roll really helped me. Run-flats+1st gear=smoke.

should have been a close race. i saw a gt500 with intake exhaust and tune running low 12s @ 120mph... maybe his tune sucks, maybe he cant drive or maybe your cars just faster! haha good kill!

those cars respond very well to mods, honestly i would think it would be close, but he probably should have beaten you. Seriously the intake, exhaust and a good tune on those can set them north 550whp. Ive seen a test of over 40whp from an intake. With that setup and a good set of tires he should potentially be able to hit 11's. But i call bs on the tractions issues, im sure either he isnt a great driver, or it has a bad tune. Good kill

sounds about right
throw 1/4 mile times out the window. on a roll race, big weight/aero advantage to the 'vette once you get close to 100mph and further.

I've been at the local drag strip, Darlington, SC, and watched several times a night and on several different nights, a guy with a GT500 running 13.1@113 all day and all night long. His mods: CAI, pulley, tune, axleback. He drives it back and forth to and from the track. He hates playing catch up to the C5s and can't understand why the C6s get him every time.
