Default 96 LT1 WS6 vs GTO (Both stock)

Well last night I ran into a GTO on the town strip. It was completely stock as far as I could tell, and so am I. And it must've been an LS1. I could also tell it was a 6speed, and so am I. We caught a light together and I said "what's up," he said "how's it going man."

Light turned green and we both took off kind of normal. Then at the same time we both just nailed it. Shifted perfect every time and we were DEAD even all the way up to about 70 or so. Then I let off because we were in the middle of town, and the speed limit's 35, lol. The passenger put his arm out the window with a thumbs up.

And there was a black Evo with a loud BOV behind us the whole time. I slowed down to wait for him, but I guess he didn't want any

So maybe not the most detailed and long story, but I was sort of surprised, I thought he would edge me out.

If it would have dragged out past 70-80, I can see him pulling you. Good run.

That sounds about right! Nice Run. The M6 LS1 goats are a drivers race it seems with M6 strong LT1s. He might have edged you just a bit. I have ran a few M6 LS1 GTOs at the track in my stock Cobra and it was pretty much neck and neck.

Nice run. Lt1's are very strong down low, and I always get butterflies in the tummy when racing then from a dig. Even after all the mods and tune I feel more at ease playn from third gear up against the Lt1 cars.

^Yeah, they definitely move out well. And they are getting to be like the 5.0 Mustangs. You never know whether it's gonna be a stock 14 second car, or a built 11 second car.

Very nice car.. Now throw some headers, catback, ory, gears, and a tune in the car and really start walking some cars. You will easily drop a second off of your quarter time after those mods

I have to disagree...I think it'll take drag radials as well

After just those mods and some 315 street tires my car went from slower LT1 to slow LT1 . I did shave over a second off though, I really need to pick up some DRs so I can put power to the ground.
