Just got my first BIG kill in my Vette
Wife and I went to St. Louis tonight (Galleria area for dinner) for our anniversary. We're coming home through the city at about 8:45-9:00 PM and traffic is real light. I'm doing about 70 just moving along and I see projectors coming up in the rear view. He gets right up on my rear, so once we're past a small pack I move over to the middle lane from the left lane. He gooses it forward and as he's passing I take notice, and verify when I see his tail: Carrera S. It's on like donkey kong.
I immediately come out of 6th to 4th and tuck in behind him. He starts creeping the speed up to about 80-85 and I stay right there. We clear the traffic and there's NOTHING ahead for at least a half mile. I thought he wasn't going to go for it because he/we slowed down to abuout 65-70, but then he did, dropped the hammer and started moving away pretty quickly. Hmmmm........Do I got it?
I VERY QUICKLY downshifted to third (I was waiting for it and didn't want to give up too much to him) and blew by his *** like he was standing still at about 140 (yes, I did go to fourth obviously). At the speed we were moving when punching it, the boost was instantaneous, absolutely no lag. He stayed at least 1000 feet back the rest of the time until he continued on I70 in IL and we went down I64 for a pit stop on the way home. The wife is gaining respect for my Vette now thank god.

It peaks at 5500 and just starts to trail off at about 6K. Don't need to rev it any further.
