Default To funny!! BMW 335i guy forgot to turn his turbo on!!

This is to funny!! I was driving on Veterans Blvd. and there was a guy in a new BMW 335i picking on a guy with a Cross fire. So I pull on side the guy and rev at him. He flags for me to role down my window and ask if I am really willing to race THAT THING against his car.. I tell him that I'm not sure if I could beat him but would just like to see how I fair.. He tells me just go when I'm ready, I said ok and nailed it. I put at least 5 cars on him and stopped at the next light and was waiting for him. When he pulled back up on side of me he was reaching down and doing something so I ask if everything was ok. He said now it is, I forgot to turn on my turbo. So I said oh so you ready now and he said yes lets go on 3 honks and wanted me to honk it off. So I started to honk and on the 3rd honk he took off and again I pulled about 4-5 cars on him again. I slowed down and waited for him again and he said "man I don't know whats wrong with my car I can't get my turbo to turn on" .I told him maybe he should get that checked out at BMW!! Then he said "wait I think I got it now, so I told him just to go.. I let him get about a car on me then I nailed it and blew past him again.. I laughed the rest of the way home (I've forgot to turn my turbo on)!! That really made my day.. My car is a 2002 Z28 with all bolt ons and a PTC 3500 stall converter. I dynoed 345rwhp and run the 1/4 in 12.3 @ 110mph with a 60ft. of 1.67 (Which was my recent best)to 12.6 @ 108mph with a 60 ft of 1.74..

"I forgot to turn my turbo on" ??!!?? That's almost as good as Dave Chappelle's, "I didn't know I couldn't do that" hahahaha

What a dumbass!! I wonder what he was reaching for?

My question is, how in the hell do you get the idea that it could be "turned off" in the first place?

maybe he meant to couldn't get his to boost build??? kinda like a boost control system that's stuck on low? idk, maybe if you're really not car oriented you could think that your turbo was "off" if you couldnt turn the **** on the boost controller lol

Well, I wasn't going to post...but. 1) Nice kill, 335's stock dyno 270-280 hp. 2)The BMW driver is an idiot. 3) There are tuning computers that have a valet switch. Maybe he thought he could switch maps on the fly from a stock map to a tuned map, which as far as I know with current piggy-back tuning computers is not possible.

"As a added feature, the Active Autowerke tuned XEDE Processor has double banks to store separate individually tuned files for varied and different conditions.

Now you can have a STOCK configuration and a hi-performance tuned version all at the same time, just "... A flip of the switch...": and you are good to go."

From: http://www.activeautowerke.com/turbo/e92335/main.php

There is a picture of the switch in the glovebox 3/4 down the page. Funny thing is, If he was running that tune and knew how to turn it on, look at the dyno on that page, he would have had about 345whp.

Thats the point!! You cannot turn them off!! I don't know what he was reaching for. Maybe he was turning off his A/C or something.. None the less he thought he was going to kill me.. Guess he doesn't know much about the LS1!

What do they do stock? I saw one that looked and sounded stock at the track run 106mph for a few runs then worked his way up to 110. I find it hard to believe you beat him by 5 lengths unless something was wrong with his car. Good kill anyways...

Funny stuff, nice kill!

That reminds me of a race I had in my Grand National some years back. I was having problems with my car overboosting and I was just at my brother's house trying to figure it out for about 3 hours and we called it a night. I was tired and depressed and I just turned the boost completely off for the drive home. I was going down a long straight and a cammed 5.0 rolled up next to me with 3 guys in the car and he started revving it up trying to get me to go. Finally I just said screw it. I punched it figuring he'd probably beat me and I'd make his day for him and he'd leave me alone. It was a pretty close race but he beat me by a couple cars up to near 100.

Afterward we stopped at a light and he rolls down his window and he's laughing all happy as can be and he says "yeahhh Ford baby,3 guys in the car! GM sucks!" I told him I had my boost turned off and he got this dumb look on his face and says "what do you mean?" I said my turbo is pretty much shut off right now because it's been overboosting. He says bullshiiit! I said okay let's go again, I'll turn it on. I just turned my dial a boost up to about where 19 normally would be and when th elight turned we took off and I left him about 20 car lengths behind with the boost at 23 and the pedal a little more than half way down as he turned into a little dot in my mirror. My funnest kill of all time.

I don't know what they run stock.. But I did the same thing to him 3 times in a row!! They might run 110mph stock but what do they run in the 1/4? My last run on a cool night I ran 12.3 @ 110mph with a 1.67 60ft.

Ah you would DESTROY one from a dead stop no doubt! I'm guessing the 110mph run might have been a different tune? I don't see how he went from 106-110 in a stock car.

I thought the turbo automatically comes on then you have to turn it off for better fuel ecconomy. Kinda like Traction Control.
