OR, better yet. Let's find the range of cheapest possible to most expensive Fbody, Mustang GT, and Cobra, and then compare them to see how they stack up.
If everyone is so intent on comparing factory dollar costs, this should be the most accurate way to do so. We can even throw in production numbers if you want to get that into it...

I was really just trying to show that it's stupid to argue dollar costs when it comes to racing cars. There will always be stock and modded cars, expensive and cheap, fast beaters, slow over-priced exotics, fast exotics, domestics, imports, etc, etc, etc. Like I said in the previous post:

It's a good kill for the OP. I'm sure he's jazzed at the outcome....and rightfully so. I, for one, won't take anything away from his win.
BUT....... acting like "THIS is the best Ford can do?" is stupid beyond belief. When you talk like that......the whole argument of stock for stock comes to the forefront. Give me a bone stock GT500 against a stock LS1 F-body, and I WILL show you a proper spankin. 500hp for a factory-stock car is nothing to make fun of. Sure their weight hurts them, but going 11s in a 3900 lb car with just tires and a tune sure don't sound bad to me. And sure, price is an issue........MSRP 42K. But since we don't have an 07-08 Camaro to compare it to....then the bang for the buck argument is moot as well.
Again, nice kill. I just don't see the need for all the "GM > Ford" postering cuz your built LS1 snagged a bone stock GT500 just makes you look bad IMO. Add a few bucks worth of mods to the Shelby and its a different ball game.

Not sure what world you live in, but STOCK 03-04 Cobras barely ran in the high 12s with good drivers. When my car was stock making 297 rwhp I would beat the **** out of Cobras all over the road and at the track. And guess what, they were making a solid 50+ rwhp over my LS1.And, so we are clear, the 09 Camaro will ******* DESTROY whatever Ford has out in 09 to battle it.
Ford+non drivers+lots of horse power=whipped by LSX power any day.

"Whipped by LSX power any day?" That NEVER happened to me when I was out around here.

The best FORD can do in your league? Ummm I didn't know they made a 2007 Camaro and I don't remember F-bodies exactly taking the fight to the 03-04 Cobra. Perhaps Chevy will finally put the long past due Camaro back on the road? Anywho... great kill on the stock car in your heavly modded camaro!
