Default A V-Max?

I was heading towrd the track.. this bike came up on me..

im sure it was a 600 or 750 or some thing but it said V-max ..that i could see.. but man did i pull him hard.. we took off about 70 im in third again.. i hate leaving in 3rd.. but i pull him a car length before i go to 4th.. and it gets worse.. so we shut down

He comes back up and motions to slow down so.. i slow down.. i jump.. then let off ...he see me and goes... again i pull around him in third.. shift ... and start to pull fartther away.. finally .. right before i was to get off.. i moved over to the slow lane he was in the fast lane.. he pulled up enough to gave me the thumbs up .. had a black helmit and face shield..so i couldnt see the look on his face.. but i think he was WOWed i beat him.. was i not suppose to?

So i went to the track and ran the car.. Now i have a stock rear so i leave eazy.. but
i went
.663
1.996 60 ft
5.392 330
7.665 594
8.175 1/8
86.40

Must have been some stickers he had laying around, because a true V-Max should have raped you. IIRC, they are 1200cc and set up for stoplight drags or 0-140mph runs. Any bike is a decent kill, though!

It's actually a 1200cc V4 and they'll run mid 10's with a good rider.

+1. My buddy had one, wicked bike for a heavy cruiser. That thing would spin the rear tire into 4th easy. Nice kill though!

Loved my V Max as long as I was going straight. Handles like 4 ton hog on a tri-cycle. Pretty fast bikes. Not Hayabusa fast but pretty fast.

back when my viper was bone stock i raced a bone stock V-max from 40-120 mph roll. he got the jump on me but by the time we got to 120 mph i had caught up to him and if the race would have been run to a higher speed i would have pulled on him BIG time. i own a year 2004 V-max now and i have done a full UFO header/exhaust system and a stage 7 dynojet kit with K&N pod filters and it dyno'd 117 rwhp with a tune thats a lil rich. the gearing of the shaft drive limits the bike to a top speed of only 135 mph on GPS at 9,000 rpm's. of course you can always over rev it to 10,000 rpm's and go faster. its not near as fast as my turbocharged kawi or my nitrous injected honda but the wife and i just use it for cruzen anyway. technically the V-max is classified as a muscle bike. i luv the sound of mine. its got the most straight out hot rod sound thats so muscular for a bike.

Yeah i ran my buddies from 40-115. He had the hit and pulled hard early but I was catching him at 100+. Still though i lost by 4 cars.

I thought the V-Max was rated at 145hp for years. Isn't 117rwhp very low if thats the case?

145hp at the crank. 117rwhp is pretty good considering the shaft drive sucks a lot more power than a belt or chain.

mine dyno'd 107 rwhp stock. if i were to lean out my main jets a lil more i could get 120 rwhp out of it with the modz i have now. but since i haul my wife around on the back of it i didn't want to push it with respect to my a/f ratio so i left it a lil on the rich side to keep it from overheating with the extra weight. its no sport bike but it is a muscle bike that can double as a cruzer and is substantially faster than all the harleys or custom choppers that i have ever come up against

I've got an '88 with Holeshot exhaust and a jet kit. Its definately a bike with character and the sound is heavenly.

Aha! I see! What are the typical losses figured with chain, belt and shaft drive?

Couldn't you just tune yours to be a little leaner at WOT and keep it richer at part throttle?
