The original poster should have called the police after the guy flashed the gun and told them there was a man at the bank flashing a gun and gave them an accurate description of the guy. I'll bet the officer would have had a really bad day after that especially if the officers responding to the call did not recognize the off duty officer.
That probably would have been the best possible outcome IMOI still can't get over the whole bringing the bike cop in......

tasers are meant to be used on unarmed people its a less than lethal tactic than using a baton or a pistol. as for pepper sprays/oc sprays there are a number of people that are immune to them thus tasers.....
