Damn, that z06 was BAD!! I thought w/ a 100 rwhp advantage, the KB would have dominated. Is it the weight difference, or just "power under the curve"? I mean NA cars do tend to have a better curve, but 100rwhp is a huge advantage. WTF???

 

It's pretty hard to beat the "curve" of a V8 with a positive displacement blower

 

Yea, I guess so. When you say "positive displacement motor", what does that mean? I am guessing that has something to do with the 427 CI motor, and maybe the stroke being longer than the diameter of the bore??? Anyhow, I guess the z06 probably had the stang by about 400-500 lbs too, so that probably played a factor as well. But I don't car if your driving a school bus, an additional 100rwhp is not easily overcome. LS7

 

It's called positive displacement because it compresses air and THEN sends it into the intake, and doesn't just throw alot of air into the engine. People that are a bit more experienced than me with blowers can explain the technical reasons why it's called positive displacement. I just know that the blowers themselves have a displacement capacity.

I see that everyday. My friend in his C6 400HP LS2 raced and beat a guy here in town with a GT500. The corvette has the weight and aerodynamic advantage over the Mustang.

Keep thinking a Z06 is the greatest thing ever and nothing is quicker, there are Cobras that will take a Z06 believe it or not. Not stock, of course, but it can/will happen. The Z06 is a sick car, and i'm not discrediting its ablility. But you have to understand that we are also comparing a car for $75K to a car for $35K, for twice the money I had better beat a bolt on Cobra or most cars on the street for that matter.

And you guys brought up Ford needing to Supercharge their cars to hang with anything on the road, and I brought up the ZR1, your buddies got angry, and it went downhill from there. thats how this became Vette vs Cobra

Now I understand there is a vid of a Z06 "walking" a Cobra

Now type in Cobra walking Z06 on youtube and I bet you'll fine the opposite. You guys can think all you want about how slow KB and Whipple Cobras are, or stock Cobras for that matter, but at the end of the day to be able to put out over 600 RWHP and some over 700 is impressive in any car Ford or GM. and to have a bolt on/ported cobra putting out over 500 and able to run high 10's low 11's is also impressive imo.

If there is any other question you have, that you can state in a civil manner, please let me know. I am definately not ignorant to what a C6Z can do nor am I ignorant to the potential of a Cobra.

Now if you could point out where I said "having over 600 hp makes it possible for a Cobra to take any vette" i'd appreciate it. i'll look through my posts but I don't think I ever stated that.

 

Ok... Um... I searched You Tube... I typed in "cobra walking Z06" and no videos were found. Sorry. Also if I go out and put a supercharged 454 in my s10 then mod everything else that needs to change to make it possible well ya I'm going to beat a lot of things. A modded car will always have an advantage over cars that aren't... Just my two pennies.

i think what some of these guys are saying is that, because you mod everything under the hood of a cobra, and almost hangin with a STOCK(ish) NA Z06, isnt a whole lot to be proud of.....

 

Ok now I was not referring to a modded vette when I said Vette, bacause that is a pretty broad statement. And these vids are pointless as well as this arguement. I typed in Cobra vs C6 Z06 and this is the first vid that came up.
But of course the Vette driver couldn't drive, or the Cobra owner was a liar and had more than 610 RWHP.

Ok just to clear and problably validate something here. It is possible for a Z06 with 496rwhp to beat a Cobra and somewhat unlikely for a SVT cobra with 590rwhpto beat a Z06. Ofcourse this is base on the stock weight of Z06 3132 and the SVT 3780. Again the main FACTOR here would be weight. If we include suspension and grip the z06 using the same brand tires as the other car with stock diameter will still have the advantage. Base in my calculation the Z06 will have a 10.39 ET and the Cobra 10.43..

This is just a little incentive for you guys to fight LOL..
