300ZX's aren't the fastest things in the world, and they are very hard to work on (and this coming from an owner of an LT1). But they have some inherent factory problems, that if overcome, they're pretty damn good cars. Boost from the factory is low, dont remember the exact number, but its really low. But believe it or not, I have seen many 300ZX's in the BPU area run door to door with BPU Supra's.
P.S: With a good driver, a stock TT will run mid to low 14's. Auto's, high 14's to low 15's.

I used to have a TT 300zx with intake, and full exhuast and 14psi, on 555r's i ran a 12.72 at 110 with a 2.001 60ft. And now i own a bolton ls1 on 100shot, and i must say, the camaro would eat it alive on the 100 shot, as far as bolton, theyre probably equal

this car is nowhere near light. u could do it around $2500 if you get good prices on stuff and do all the work yourself
you car is 3400lbs? this car is a 3400lbs but I am not here to argue v8's are cheaper to mod to make faster

It's irrelavent how much it costs to install parts, really. My point was simply that it does in fact take quite alot to put a stock 300ZX TT into the low 12s.
It's not very comparable to the LS1 at all - In terms of mods, reliability, etc.

Its a turbo car. Turbo cars can be modded easily, end of story. Would I want to work under the hood of a 300z tt? Hell no......Seen that nightmare. I have small hands and wouldn't want any of it. I used to think fbody's were bad.
I have seen a couple with just a few mods run pretty damn quick. I also saw one go through 3 motors too for only 450rwhp. He would get the motors from japanese import place. All 3 ended up having rod bearings go. One grenaded nicely.
They are fast, moddable, good looking cars. A little overpriced but then again everything in the import market is.........

Edit: And since when is intake/exhaust/intercooler piping/boost controller not "a few bolt-ons?" Does "a few" mean 3 specifically?

eh, there are cheaper ways to do it, but who wants to cut corners. NA subframe 4:10 gear swap, throw the boost higher than 14psi on stock injectors and risk blowing the engine.
Its like anything, im sure my ls1 could run a 10 sec 1/4 if i put a 250 shot through it.
but all in all, from a person who has owned, raced, modified, both LS1 F-body and tt 300zx, the Camaro wins in every catagory except handling.
But who cares, my car is a straight line car anyway.

I don't know a ton about 300z's but I would hate to think that expensive injectors are holding everyone back. I know I could figure out a cheaper way and have better tuning ability. Necessity is the mother of invention.
Someone wanna give me a 300z tt to figure it out?
Those friggen things still sell as much as my car 10 years older and with more miles.
