Default 95 Z28 Vs. 05 Mustang GT

My mods intake, no muffler, MSD6AL, DR's. Raced a guy with a 05 Mustang GT stick shift with intake, cat back, Long Tube, tune. Couple months ago when we raced he was putting 5 cars on me found out he was using nitrous with out telling me. This weekend i finaly got a chance to run him again motor to motor i was suprice because I beat him by 1 car length. We ran it 3 times every out come was the same. he told me he had a good launch every run. I'm shocked, never expected to beat him.

Good kill. Seems like ya'll are both low-mid 13s cars, so sounds about right. But I do think it could go either way. With those mods he should be close to 300rwhp.

Good kill. I've been wanting to race one of the newer GT's since I got my car. I almost had a chance to the other day, but it was about the worst possible place to try and race and too cold to catch any traction at all.

Nice kill. I'm surprised a newer GT would be a mid-low 13 second car with LTs and other bolt-ons. That sucks for them.

good run, but if your only perf. mods are intake and no muffler, i would expect him to pull you a couple cars, but good kill either way

Why would you say that? Stock for stock, both cars are pretty even. The reason most people think lt1's are slow, is because there is a lot of them out there that need work. Plus traction is key on the street!

I think LT1's are slow because I think LT1's are slow.

1995 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 5.7 14.2

The 5.7 = 0-60 time, and 14.2 in the 1/4..

Here is the new edge GT
2005 Ford Mustang GT 4.6L V8 5.1 13.5 (MT Jan 05)

They are faster stock for stock, and he had more mods, go figure....

As much as I love to argue with you, I have to agree about the stock GT and would imagine a full bolt-on 05+ GT SHOULD be a high 12-second car, maybe low 13s with a bad drive.

That said, I think the reason that phrase is so popular is because it's so true. On the street, the variables not only come in higher quantities than at the track, but they also "vary" a lot more. You're much more likely to run into some guy in a bolt-on GT on the street who isn't really that into cars and doesn't know how to drive, has power-adding mods but no tires or suspension, and can't launch the car for **** than you are on the track. You're also much more likely to BEAT a car on the street that you should than you are at the track for pretty much these same reasons; and it does happen quite often. Just a thought.

Again, stock for stock, they are even, 14.2 from an lt1 is not the norm. I ran 13.6's all day long when my car was stock down to the paper filter. Oh... and my car is a Vert.
This can go all day long, I've seen 05+ GT's go mid 14's too. But you said it well...."Anything can happen on the street."

Exactly, don't magazine race. I was looking at albeedigital and they had a mix of online and magazine sources. We all know that they aren't as good as it gets. It was showing high 13's for LS1's. We all know that it's very common to run a low 13 in a bone stock LS1 and some even break into the 12's. Those sources aren't really all that reliable.

On quoting mag times.
That classic.

The same mag times have a 96 SS running a 13.6
My A4 2.73 with only a K&N Filter, 245/50 Goodyears and Mobil 1 ran a 13.89 @ 99 and I had a better pass in it.

Barely...if any.
13.5 for a new GT is being nice considering what I have seen.

Yep. I guess stock LS1's run 13.8's...

Ya know its getting bad when people start quoting mag times.
Its also funny when Cobra owners say LT1's are slow when a 390bhp car runs low 13's.
LT1's run that with 300rwhp.
I'd love to see a 400rwhp LT1 race a 400rwhp Cobra.
Better put the Camera in the Cobra

Yep, stock ls1's run 13.8 if they are lucky...so there..and with a tail wind!

And I would rather quote magazines that have actually run a car on the strip wiith a somewhat good driver behind the wheel than some of these tool bags just doing rolls on the highway.....and guessing what they run, guessing what they would do if there ever saw a dyno...

SOME of you guys are too funny, some of you guys know your ****...

you know who you are, I don't need to spell it out..

Ken
