Supposedly they run about a 13.2-13.3 in the quarter. You should have no problem.

They run low 13s, like the others say. Around 5 flat to 60... 300 horse/300 torque with AWD. On paper they seem like a threat, but they aren't that fast on account of their weight (and you've got to be a good driver to hit those low 13s).

I agree, but I say race him for $$$ and make sure you hook good. Tell him your car is stock... lol... Kick his *** for me, I hate those factory riceburners... Good luck.

I have not driven an STi, but if its anything like my wife's WRX then its a bitch to launch well. The STi makes better torque and all, but the AWD's seem to be a pain (at least for me ). Unless he's really good, I wouldn't even worry about the launch too much - at least if you're running a full 1/4-mile. Do let us know how it goes if you run - I've got a guy talkin' smack about his new STi as well...

If you launch good, you'll destroy him ... if you launch bad, he'll definately jump a car or two on you (maybe more if you launch real bad) ... but given the hp/weight advantage, you should catch up pretty quickly. If you run him from a 15-20 mph roll, you should destroy him with ease...

I seen what I think was just a wrx at the track last weekend, dont know if it was an sti, he was spinning the front tires even though its awd, weird, thing was it was soo slow after I seen one run I didnt pay attention anymore, think it was doin 16 or some awfull ****, heavy as a pig, and I dont think the power gets to the ground very well, U WILL DESTROY THE STI, do doubt about it, kill him allready

Like Fulton said, I heard that they're VERY hard to launch correctly from an owner on Cardomain.com, but I've never actually driven myself so I don't know. Good luck!

A regular nonsti WRX is capable of mid 13s stock. Thats not that slow for what it is. A guy I know here in town ran 12.8 in his WRX w/ few mods. He seems to have the launch down good, but like the others said, they are supposedly hard to launch. Do not under estimate this guy tho.

I have no doubt you will beat him. But like I said, don't be supprised if he puts 5 carlengths on you outa the hole. You'll run him down like a dog.

if he can drive he'll scare you on the launch but dont worry just stay on it and reel him in i have lots of friends with regular WRXs upgraded turbos downpipes up pipes front mounts etc.. and they LAUNCH on anything but i think you can handle a stock STI just try to keep up on the launch cuz many times youll get launched on and by the time your in 2nd it seems like the race is already over..race him, beat him, post about it, or better yet post the video...

i posted a while ago when i was in my friends LS1, we went from a 30-35 roll, and we were DED even all the way to 80 or so. Id imagine they're pretty badass from a dig

I raced one from a 75 roll. I was like a stock LS1. It started to fall at 85 and at 95 I was walking.
I thought is was a normal WRX and it impressed me. I like the fact that these 4-bangers are starting to quickin up. Nothing I hate more than all show and no go.

I raced a brand new stock STi from a 40 roll the other day. They arent that fast, and as soon as i got traction at about 50, i never saw him again.

The STi on paper they run 13.0 and the the new Evo 8's run a 13.3 on paper as well. work on your lanches and practice driving and you should win.

Since when has a 13.0-13.5 at 104+ been slow. If it where a stock ls1 vs a 400hp vette, none of you would be calling the ls1 slow. You guys are ungrateful dicks. Show some respect sometimes.

I was there for Venkman's race. He and another LS1 (also lightly modded) put the hurt on a brand-new sti in a roll race.

Let's say for a $33k car, I was not impressed.
