If the track had a section for roll racing...

You could try some REAL tires
Infact there is alot you can do to make your car hook. My advice would be to call a shop that has a fast F-body that hooks and ask them what you can do to get yours to hook. Sorry I can't help anymore, I'm just not up to date on F-body suspension.

i agree with the fact that such a track would cost some dough, plus the rediculous top speeds would be a safety issue. one other thing.....why have i never heard about anyone talk about speed though corners. i remember IROC camaros were praised for their lateral Gs, have the more current issues of the F body lost that trait? mine holds a corner pretty damn good. it seems like a very well balanced car overall.

I have heard the Bolt ons is a joke. Can not confirm this but a couple of guys have confirmed this. I'd still line up with him though. He has stated for the record that the LS1 is the best motor ever made. LMAO

01 TA vert with an LS6, headers, lid and the rear suspension is a mix of UMI and Spohn. Haven't had it at the track yet. It made 360 HP on the dyno. Not earth shattering but its a start. I doubt it will get a 12.1 but I'll line up and if you make a mistake I own you.

Thanks a bunch but I think 12.1 is a little optimistic. It would be great but a manual vert on street tires full weight it probably won't happen at 360 RWHP. If it does I will dance the entire length of the track and I don't dance. If i cut 200 lbs and put on slicks it probably would but I like driving my car so I am not willing to gut it for a number.

I agree with you there...I'm the same way with my 95. 12.1 is a shitty ET for the trap speed but the car is full weight, the suspension is setup for handling and not straight line hooking, and I keep the 17" wheels on it.

When mine hit the track. It will be on street tires an 17's. It will be full weight. I will be told get off and don't come back. At 13.49 you have to have a roll bar in a vert and I don't have it yet. I am still up in the air if I really want one. Wolfe makes one that you can still use the top. My problem is that if I cage it then I will get dumber and the car will end up a strip car. I will probably buy a hard top and mod it. Better chassis and lighter.

i guess some people would enjoy it...probably the guys that run 12's in the 1/4 at 125mph+...i wouldnt really find interest in it though...to each his own...i think it would be harder to manage and a little more dangerous in the terms of if someone that had a near stock car blew a tire or lost traction near the end of the track...the only things to hit would be the wall or other car...there would have to be more safety equipment put on the car...kinda like the mph guidelines for nhra style tracks

I think its a kick *** idea. I had a design along time ago for a race park that had a roll race track that was {2}2 1/2 miles straight aways with {2} 1 mile turns making a oval track that would be 4 lanes wide. Along the track would be sand like in indy racing to slow cars down that went off the road. The park idea would have roundy round track,1/4 track, dirt bike track and dirt bike trails.
I drag raced for many years but now don't see the purpose for it anymore. My cobra is a daily driver and I can't think of one time in the last 3 years someone even tried to run me from a stop light or dig. While the track is a blast the only thing I would use it for is for mph because from a roll thats all that matters. 10's,11's,12's don't mean shxt when your rolling.
{example: 10.91@124 vs 11.8@127 who do you think is gonna win that race when you take away that 60ft and 330 launch?}
Why waste money on a bunch of suspension/safety equipment to run at the track from a stop when you drive on the street and people on run from a roll? I say different strokes for different folks. A roll race track would rock!

The whole roll race idea I'm not sure about, you can do that on the street. However a track that you could test your top speed would be great! I always wanted to know what my car topped out at.

In THEORY here its great... It takes the literal street race to a closed course.. Saftey, most of us wouldnt mind, we do it in worse conditions than a closed track... Insurance would be next to impossible to get for the company that would do it... Even with waivers.
But the hardest part, is getting the street racers to actuallly make the change. Its that adrenaline that comes from breaking laws, being caught, that gives them MORE of a rush than just being faster than the other guy... Thats why some of us dont mind losing. We still got our rush. Not just from speed. What I would like to see, is remote locations shut down for street racing events. Hell, they closed down city streets for racing before, LA shuts down blocks for drift races, why not take it to a country location, and let the kids street race..... Have volenteer medics and such.... Flag races, low rolls whatever. Easier than building a track just for it....

And seeing as this is a street racing and kills section... even the haters here have run from a roll... more often than digs.
Not taking anything away from dig racing... or roll racing.

i would not go. if you want to see which car has more power, put them on a dyno side by side and figure the hp/weight ratio - that will tell you who is faster.
also - to the author of this thread who is having trouble hooking up a 1000+hp car. STOP USING BOLT ON CAR PARTS AND TIRES. call six speeds inc, they can help you.
