Default TA vs. Lightning.

Got bored on my way home from work and spotted a lightning.

I know there's 4 or 5 white ones in town that roll around, and 2 that are in the 670-700 rwhp range.

Naturally, I wouldn't mind seeing one of those.

So I hop on the highway and pull up next to him. drop from 6th to 3rd one at a time to get his attention. He hears it and jumps the throttle. I match him almost immediately, but can't pull him in. from 65-105 he put my front bumper back to his door.

I work with the guy now, and I know the truck has 4.10s, an exhaust, and a diablosport tune. He does NOT have a pulley.

I hate being slow.

<--stock with a lid, flowmaster, and 3.73s

He's also trying to order me a cam.

From a roll, they are fast. From a dig, you will slap the baby powder right off that boys ***.

Isn't 65 about the very top of 2nd? Definitely a 3rd gear speed. 4th is just asking to get spanked.

Chris barely pulled on me, he got a slight jump.

top of second is ~72 with a 3.42 IIRC. I have 3.73s.

And of course I wasn't in 4th. I might have done that when I just got the car, but I know better. I typed 4rd. That should tell you something.

I disagree. From stoplight to sloplight they are quick but on the highway...its game over for the ford.

Depends on the mods. Stock for stock, yeah.

but a 700 HP truck ain't gonna lose to a bolt on F-body.

[borat voice]
vaaaaaaary true.
700hp is alot regaurdless of how much he weighs or how much air he has to displace with that brick just to move.

honestly id love to get the joe gibbs edition truck because its pretty much even with a lighting on paper, and it has a 5 speed. the lightings are all auto. plus the chevy motor is smaller iirc.

im sorry but lightnings advantage is from a Dig not a roll to the person stating their good up top.

those have to be some of the best gripping trucks ever interms of launching.

i watched numerous times as a lightning would rip me a new hole out of the box. with me even having a better reaction time. i would pull 2.0 60fts so he im assuming was pulling a lower 2.0 60 or 1.9 range. and it would always be me after the 1/8th mile running past him. i would run my 13.5 and he would run 13.7 me @105 and him 102 to 103

They are serious torque monsters. I had a pulley, intake, shift kit and tune, and i made a heatsoaked 399rwhp/524rwtq with the torque peaking at aroung 3250. As much as i would have loved a manual trans, there was no way in hell, i could come close to the hard shifts with the auto. It spun a little into second, and chirped third.

When me and my girl messed around with her in the 02 WS.6(only lid and catback then) against my truck with just an Intake i would get slowly pulled.

I have raced good bolt on lightnings and still wasnt close .I know they can be fast. My buddy that works at the local dealership has a clean *** one that puts over 500hps to the pavement.
