Default lt1 vs s197 gt auto

last night on my way home, a 05-07 gt passed me and started pacing me about a car and half. it was completely stock, but i have yet to race a stang in my lt1 so i was excited to see what would happen. at 70 mph i went to 4th from 5th just to line even with the stang for a run, but when i got to his back tire he stepped on it, that's when i realized it was auto. instead of downshifting to 3rd like i had planned i just keep in 4th and punched it. i quickly got even, and we stayed even all the way til the end of 4th where i started to pull a fender on him, but had to let off dude to traffic. i was not impressed, i figured he would easily pull me since i was in the wrong gear.
so we get around the cars and have open road again, we line up at the same speed 65-70mph but this time i'm dropping the hammer in third. he takes off the same time i do but i leave his *** instantly and keep pulling, 4th gear is even worse. i honestly put like 5 cars on him quickly and shut down. after i smoked him the second time he would not pull up to me, lol. i was lmao. he continued to stay at my bumper until the freeway merge with another then he did the flyby of shame. it was an auto and stock 05-07 gt and it wasn't driver error cuz it was auto! that stang was slow as hell, my first stang kill was a great,

I like how as soon as your car can beat something, it makes the other car "slow as hell" . But good kill I guess.

The 05 GT I rode in must have been the exception because it ran good...I would be surprised to see a big distance between an lt1 and a newer gt

good kill i guess but with your mods sounds a bit exagerated, my guess is it was a 05 v6 auto lol. a auto new gt with a decent launch will run 13.5-13.9 1/4. so 5 cars would put you in the 12.7-13.2 hmmm.... maybe good kill tho

i knew you would say some dumbshit like it was a v6, well it wasn't and to put 5 cars on a 3v 4.6 as fast as i did is why i said that car was slow as hell whether you think so or not. and what they run in the 1/4 don't apply to a roll race, just cuz i smoked him from around 70mph don't mean i run 12's. thats funny. i used to own a stang and all my buddies back home have stangs, fast ones. i know very well what they are capable of, but i was not at all impressed by that new gt i raced. i actually feel sorry for him. i saw the dissapointment on his face. i have a guy at work 99 gt auto cai/exhaust 300-310rwhp well thats whats he says, runs his mouth but won't race. can't wait to smoke him too.

Race a manual. It's more even. I've never driven the auto S197, but I'll say that the M5 is not really a slouch compared to an LT1 IMO.

EDIT: Good kill.

Well the '05-07 GT A5's run on average high 13's on a good night. Just like the GTO's they're in bad need of a tune. Combine that with unimpressive aerodynamics and it's vulnerable from a roll.

Where's Dynotune, Sarge, and Bitemark? This is an LT1 thread where are the bs callers?

Good kill, I ran an 05-06 when I had shorties, CAI, and blowmaster muffler- had him by about 3 cars. He was a manual tho.

The LT1 vs GT500 thread has everyone pretty tied up right now.

I own an 07 gt and I have owned two lt1's a-4 ,as well as m6.My m-6 and a-4 both ran high to mid 13's.Bone stock I could see a good running lt1 edging out a stock s197.But edge goes to the s197 even up top.Depends on car and driver ,I manually shift my tuned a-5 auto ,not stock s197 to 13.1's at 105.78.The best time I got from the lt1 was 13.5 at 102.It was 40 outside and it did it one time.13'7 s for the stang stock a-5 auto 80 outside.
