25POS is a complete idiot....You simply cannot have a meaningful discussion with someone who knows nothing about what he proclaims. Bottom line, his super POS Yamaha Mr2 making 600 claimed horsepower does not even run! Hell it may not even exist. This is because he cannot lay down the cash working at Burgerking. (BTW you can pickup a POS Mr2 for a mere $1500). He lives in an empty pipedream, this my friends will not change.

Goodnight 25POS. Sounds like you have a little (pun intended) case of ***** envy. I think if you jerk off enough to your ricer catalogues, maybe, just maybe, it will grow.

We have BIG engines. We sleep well. It's the American way.

How many cars(domestics) can you name that can make 600 plus reliable hp. I can only think of 2.

Two seconds of thinking brings me the F-Bodies, the Cobra, the Lightning, the viper, and the CTS-V. I'm sure there are others.

As far as displacement, the displacement of an engine is irrelevant when comparing stock power levels. If my my 5.7 liters makes 320 hp and gets 26 mpg and your 2.0 liters makes 320 hp and gets 26 mpg (albeit with a turbo), then what is the difference except for the fact that if we both do the same mods undoubtedly I will see more power. A good example is the old buick 3.8. that engine reliably gets 30 mpg, makes plentiful torque and good hp, weighs ver little because of its pushrod configuration, and is nearly bulletproof. In contrast, a new VW 1.8t may get the same mpg, and make the same HP, but does so at a greater expense and has nowhere near the power potential of a 3.8 buick (we all know what happens when a 3.8 meets a turbo). So what if your 2.o liter engine makes 200hp/liter. 400hp is 400 hp, and my 5.7 can make that same number under alot less stress.

Yes its impressive for that car to make that HP, and I think they are neat cars, but yacking about hp/liter is dumb. HP is HP, its not about your literage. At the end of the day that 2.0 mitsu is alot closer to the limit than the ls1 is at the same HP level.

(and don't yack about wiehgt either because DOHC engines always weigh more than the equivalent Pushrod counterpart, and the all alloy ls1 is very light.

You do make a very good point, buick. All I have to add to it is "**** imports". Good day, 25POS.

No replacement for displacement.

Even though I have a 2.0L making 450+hp, I really want to swap in a 2.4L so I can make 550+hp.

Right. Why stop? Swap in 3.3 liters more, make 1200+ streetable hp....

Its not as easy as your think. A+B+ doesn't always equal C. It's a little more complicated than that. You mention putting a blower on an LS1 or MUSTANG. They did with the cobra and what! So what is it putting down? Not 500,not 600,not 700, but around 345 at the wheels. Yes it is a step of from the past, but still not impressive. Motor Trend did a comparison on the cobra and sti. STI one in 1/4 mile stock and skidpad. Like I said, it's not that simple.

We know it doesn't add up like that.
I just get a kick out of seeing your reaction whenever someone throws in a half sarcastic technical response. You take it all so seriously. The chain around your neck must be mile long as it seems so easy to yank, oh but wait, physically, that would make the chain much harder to pull, right?!! <-- this is what you sound like.

Actually an Ls1 with a simple intercooled procharger kit or an even simpler TNT 150 shot makes right at 600hp. Stock internals, upgraded fuel system of course. Slap a cam in that number goes up about 50 hp. So yes it is that simple. With the TNT kit $1500 to do it right. 1200 hp is also very simple. Just send your vette to lingenfelter with a $50,000 check.

Oh trust me, I'm not taking it seriuosly. Matter of fact it's fun for me. Helps me relieve some stress.

Hey where in Florida do you live. If you have a chance, go by GarageAdvance.com. There shop is really nice and has a dyno to. The work on both import and domestic.

First of all, Motor Trend sucks donkey *****. Second of all, that's a Mustang. Imagine what an LS1 would be rated at with a supercharger Cough 400 cough...

With just a blower and some PCM programming on my car I'm making around 400 at the wheels. Imagine what an LS1 would do. *Shudders* It'd be frickin awesome.

25,
South Florida Performance did my cam install. SFP.net
They work on muscle and rice.
The rice they put out is serious, long grain stuff.
As you can tell, I also use this site for stress relief. I can get a little aggressive. You know your stuff, that's why I myself just take childish jabs at ya, as I'm not versed on the jap terms. I had a new DSM '90 Laser Turbo. It was great for a 16 yr old kid. Yet, I had major ***** envy over my best friend's '89 5.7L Iroc.
My inclinations were defined early on.
You're just preachin' to the wrong house. Most of us really are not interested in the potential of ricer setups. We are stubborn folk. We drive cars that were discontinued and we love 'em, lack of lumbar support and all.

So now were comparing stock to stock? Make up your mind and stop trying to argue whats convinient.

Yes motor trend does suck monkey ballz. Driver makes a world of difference and I have seen the STi hit low (borderline) 13's in the hands of a good driver, BUT the Cobra is a mid to low 12 sec car in the hands of a good driver!

Don't negate the fact the O3 Cobra can hit those sme numbers you quoted with a few bolt ons as well, with the potential for a helluva lot more!

here lets turn the tables a bit

Its not as easy as your think. A+B+ doesn't always equal C. It's a little more complicated than that. You mention putting a blower on an EVO or WRX. They did with the WRX and what! So what is it putting down? Not 500,not 600,not 700, but around 345 at the wheels. Yes it is a step of from the past, but still not impressive. Motor Trend did a comparison on the cobra and sti. Cobra one in 1/4 mile stock. Like I said, it's not that simple.
BTW the WRX is much better suited for road racing, compared to domesics that are more influenced by 1/4 mi.
