Default I got called out...

There's a local ricer here with a 1990 talon runnin a 16g turbo at 19lbs of boost and its AWD. He called out my BONE STOCK Trans Am. I obviously declined because I can't hook from a dig and from a roll he'll be building boost. what would it take for me to beat him, and what kind of power is he making or track times? He is a halfway decent driver...I haven't seen the car, his friend is trying to set up the race with me.

only reason for the tune would be to run spray safely, if i have good wires and tr6 plugs, could I spray a 125 shot on a good tune with everything else being stock?

Sounds to me like your scared. Run him and i he wins then get the spray sqaured away and do it again. Its just a race win, lose or draw it supposed to be fun. Good luck.

a 16g and 19 psi is all thats done? i think it would be a pretty close race for you being stock but a 100 shot would deffinitly take him. some of those cars run very healthy with the right mods so be cautious if its for cash.

Only reason I am scared is because its not for fun, its for money. Thats why I don't want to do it yet. I haven't seen the car in person, so I can't verify what is done to it. However, my buddy 86MonteSS, aka chris, is going to run him in his C5, the kid has already agreed. Chris's c5 is receiving a few special things though. I am going to watch this race and get a good gauge of how well this kid can drive, and what is done to the car. Can those cars run spray on top of the turbo? can they handle that?

Run him, he's modified, you're stock. Talons are good platforms so there's no shame in losing to a modded one.

exactly, it is for cash. This kid is only 17, so whether he knows what he's doing as far as car modding is debatable. My one buddy had a 650hp talon and it was FWD...****** moved out, but had no traction whatsoever...He had the ***** to tell me to run from a dig and he'd give me 10 cars...This means A. His car is really stout and fast...B. His car is fast, be he is cocky...or C. He has no clue WTF he is doing and thinks his car is hot ****.

If I can swing him to run for fun from digs and rolls, I'd be more than happy too. But if its for cash...can't take the chance...

If it is built right yes, just like any other car. If the guy is looking for races for money then its one of two things. His car is brutally fast and he's not worried or he's a moron. Which one does he fall in to. If he is the former run him for no money and just for fun. If he is the latter then take his money. Its your cash but if you think there is more to it and you have concerns just walk away.

It be close. If he has the full mods to support the 16g I doubt you could take him stock. My lil FWD eclipse ran 14.0 at a lil over a hundred with a 2.5 60'. Thats with exhaust, no tune, small factory intercooler, no injectors, and on a "big" 16g. Its gotta lot more in it.

the key here is the Talon is AWD,he is gonna put 3 on you out the gate! then you gotta play catch-up..most of these cars launch REDICULOUSLY hard but the next few gears seem to give the average JOE a hard time to bang!
my advice to you is Dr's and 150 shot for insurance

why can't you hook? you're an A4. My camaro could barely spin the tires if i power braked it, though i did have 2.73's.

With any real amount of spray you could probably beat him, but his setup sounds pretty stout for your average DSM.

What makes you think that the offer will still stand if you get a nitrous shot? His offer is to race a bone stock F-Body, and it is unlikely he will be willing to run you if your car has spray.

SO HIDE IT.

haha, show it to his mom, lol...yea, I'd like to hide the spray, but I have a feeling he wouldnt care if he was willing to give me 10 lengths from a dig. I could always say its a baby shot. And crabhart, I have no traction whatsoever when I launch, I've tried stalling up the stock stall, just nailing it, etc. All i do is spin through first...
