Being an F-body owner, we win more races then we lose, I am sure many people would agree to that in here. However, today I ran against a VW Golf GTI 1.8 turbo (I think. I don't pay attention too much to ricers, especially VW's). Anyhow, the guy pulls up to me at a stop light (I have a 96 Formula WS6 LT1) and looks at me and says, "I will run ya" and said, "ok". The light turned green, I mashed it (4 speed auto w/ 3:73 gears) and the guy was in my mirrors the whole time. We slowed down and he caught up and yells to me, "Bad start, I got a bad start", which I know was BS, cause I looked back and he didn't really have that bad of a start, his car is just slower than mine. Anyhow, the point is, if I could have a dollar for everytime I see somebody post "I had a bad start" or when I had heard people say it after they lost, I would be rich, . That is the most lame excuse and I would have much more respect for the guy if he just came out and said, "Good race, I lost fair and square", not beat around the bush like saying that will make his car any faster. I am sure many people would side with me here..... lol, just thought it was funny and I figured many f-body owners have heard this numerous times after killing somebody in a race. Share your thoughts or stories, would love to hear them.

 

Did you get a bad start?

 

lol, no, mine was great, slight chirp was all I had in the tires, hooked up great. He complained to me he had a bad start, which I don't think he did, at least not as bad as he made it sound.

 

Well then he wouldve won if you had a bad start.

 

no hes says the guy in the VW used that as his excuse as to why he lost instead of admitting that hes just plain slower. It amazes me why some people who drive cars like that dont know some basic things...for instance

He has turbo lag(which he might not even be aware of/ know what it is lol)and yes I know it mainly only has an effect from a dig but thats what they went from.

His 0-60 time is over a half second slower stock to stock...and thats only the 0-60 time haha

Good kill Ray...its always fun beating up on wannabes went they have their g/fs with them lol

 

your killing me houtax, but thats ok. Even if I did have a bad start, I still would a wooped his VW with is silly blow off valve going off like "look at me, I am losing!"

 

Haha, this story reminds me of the time a few months back when a new GTI wanted to race me and his passenger kept rolling down the window every time they got next to me. When I finally asked if it had anything done, the passenger goes, "It's got a few goodies." Then they wanted to race. I flat out told them it wouldn't be good for them (I put down 400rwhp), but this made them angry and they wanted to run even more. Needless to say, it wasn't much of a race and it turns out by "goodies" he meant a chip.

Stupid people...

 

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! thats the funniest thing ive heard in a while. even funnier than the gt vs kite thread. (though we all know kites are no joke with multiple sticker mods)

His first bad start was buying a VW and street racing in it.

Its easy to win all the races when you run 200hp cars.

 

Trust us stopsign, Rockets and I are always want to find more people to run but we can never find any

The area we are from is hard to even find anybody to run. Dont forget that they are lighter than us as well which they can be very quick when modded.

Nobody said that he was braggin about beating him...simply stating that he was tired of hearing the "bad start" excuse

Thats a funny story there too Pewter, about you racing the GTI also. I just don't know what it is about guys that have cars like that and thinking they can outrun us, especially when the cars are like bone stock. Needless to say, its always fun to show people with cars like that what a real car is made of

 

Dude the LT1 is far from a real car. I know that it's good for 13's and all which can pwn some ricers, but I think it was Unit that said we have a standing rule here in SRK - you have to be outta the 13's before you can talk ****. Good kill tho.

 

People just dont know any better where I live the people dont even know what kind of car I have.
Just the other day I had a lady ask " what kind of car is that ?" haha I'm like camaro
" Oh I thought it was a viper or a vett ." she said lol
I hate living in the sticks sometime but its nice to have the fastest car in town lol.

 

yeah, I know what you mean Black2001SS, I live in the sticks too, and I get reactions similar to what you get, except lots of people who think they know TA's and Firebirds ask if mine is an '02, lol
