2001 Camaro SS v. 2008 Solstice GXP
Both cars are relatively stock. I have a lid and catback though. We started from about a 20 roll, me being in first, him having the auto. I hear him gun it and I wait until he gets close, then I dumped it. My car didn't spin and I stopped his pull. I shifted into second and we stayed even . Stayed even through second, I shifted into 3rd and pulled about half a car. Then I started pulling more cars on him through 3rd and shifted into 4th and I was about 5 cars ahead and I shut down. Of course he did a fly by lol. Does this seem right? I just got the car and I'm wondering if this sounds right. I shifted at 5,400-5,600 rpms, not pushing it really hard. And not to mention I'm not a great driver yet.
Cliff Notes: 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP stays with 2001 Camaro SS M6 through first and second and ends up losing by 5 cars at the end of 3rd.

Sounds about right, ive had several instances that were similar, with cars that you don't think would hang, staying close through second, but 3rd is the hammer that just really starts pulling hard. Good kill.

Yeah, they're definitely not rice. They are quick little cars and handle amazing. He took me for a ride in it and I was impressed with everything about it. He says it get great gas mileage too. The only thing I don't like is the turbo lag. I never expected it to give me a run but it did for a couple gears.

ofcourse its not rice knuckle heads.
im surprise he hung as well as he did but him getting the jump first give him alot more momentum. they seem to run 13.6-14 flat range. and trap pretty good.
the auto actually for the most part run better in the 1/4 than the manuals.
if your not a mid to low 12 car or faster i wouldnt ever "let" someone get a jump on you. low 13 sec cars are a dim a dozen these days

Well, i let him get to my quarter panel before I punched it, I don't think it was too much of a jump. And I'm not racing for money or anything so I figure what the heck...why not just have some fun and make it as even as possible given the situation. BTW, the only reason i ask about it being a normal outcome is because I want to know if my car is up to snuff. The motor was rebuilt because it was hydro-locked. It makes me nervous and I want to get it dynoed a.s.a.p. to see what it's putting down. I think I'm paranoid more than anything but the GXP scared me a bit through first and second but it was bye bye after 80 mph.

yea id say your running about right. they already have some mods for the gxp solstice which make them fairly quick rides. exhaust/tune on those little things are netting them like 40hp. and 40hp on light car compared to us is substantial.
there is red one here driven by some girl. ive tried and tried to get beside her but we are always going in opposite directions. i wanted to see myself first hand how it would do from a roll.

Good kill though, I've seen a SKY redline, but not the GXP yet. Cool *** cars, I'm sure they're a blast to drive.

It can be hard to hit peak boost even with a small turbo (especially with a short 1st gear)..... until you learn how to brake boost

I have chased a GXP around Motorsports Ranch and they are quick. He would slowly pull ahead in the corners and I would catch him on the straights. I was impressed.
