My SSEi bonneville vs a few cars
So I was out saturday night in my 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi it has the 3.8L Supercharged motor in it, well I pulled up to a light with a C5 vette and we raced when we hit 60mph i was only a fenders lenth behind the vette. Once we got to the next red light he rolled down his window and was like looking at me with a stunned face, he wasnt expecting that. Later I lined up to a V6 mustang and beat the guy by a few car lengths to 70mph. It was a fun time driving in the sleeper

Well I believe him because the races were so short lol. I personally would never race up to 60 or 70mph and let off but I don't know the situation. Keep the race going a little longer and then see the outcome next time.
Good kill on the Mustang.
Good kill on the Mustang.

You can pull the B.S. flag but it was the fact im sure the vette guy didnt pull as hard as he could, im sure he wasnt expecting what happened. But it was the fact that the bonny is a sleeper that came within a fender of the vette . But you dont have to pull the flag on the V6 mustang. As the car sits now its bone stock. I have read that best 1/4 times for these motors is 14.6 and yes a C5 vette does low 13's but 0-60 they are so close. And you cant go racing faster than 60mph on this road i was on because the lights are close together.

Something isn't right. Beating a V6 Mustang is one thing, but a C5?? Obviously the guy wasn't racing
I have the same engine in my car, only its a Grand Prix, so its lighter. 0-60 time is somewhere around 7 seconds, a C5 does it in about 4.7. Sorry, but there's no way thats even a close race, 0-60 or otherwise.

Think about this, you beat a V6 Mustang by a few lengths...so...a V6 Mustang is almost as fast as a C5?
Forget bout the C5, he wasn't racing.
I do like the '04 Bonneville GXPs(Northstar V8 275hp)...those would murder your car and are still much slower than a C5.

Well, i have ran a bonneville and driven one(parents) and under certain rpm ranges and for a limited speed they can hold thier own. The ssei would get owned if you would have kept going. They hold thier own from 20-55 ish.

definitely shouldn't be hanging around a c5 vette, but if the driver didn't launch well i could see it being a race until 60 or so. toss a stattama turbo kit on your bonneville and then race the vettes. that's what i did and my regal is trapping 121 on pump gas.

O yea for sure the guy in the vette must not have been fully racing but it was still fun. The V6 mustang was a good kill for sure. I heard him squeal the tires and then after that he was behind me. I never said i beat the vette all i said was I stayed with it. SO in my book thats pretty good coming from a bonneville.
