Default LS4 vs Mustang

I'll wander down here with my stock (well it has a K/N but who doesn't?), wrong wheel drive car. Be kind.

The setup is the Mustang is owned by a friend of my girlfriend's brother. This friend appararently asked my girl out first, she shot him down and flames on the ground he is a ***** and started going out with me about a month later. So he resents me.

He recently traded in his pickup for a 2002 Mustang GT and started trash talking my GXP every time he was over smoking pot with her bro. He of course claimed he was killing Z06s in it and my GXP would go down by bus lengths. We finally got out onto the road to settle it.

First run was from a dig. I did a brake boost and jumped out in front. He panicked I think and just slammed his pedal down without thinking. By the time he stopped spinning I was the one winning by bus lengths.

His excuse was: 'We need to do it from 30 to be fair, everyone knows front wheel cars launch better.' [really, I swear]

At this point I realized I was racing a functional retard and was happy to agree.

Little bastard jumped on the second beep. He of course claims he didn't, but he pulled out and got a little over a car right off the line. He slammed the brakes on the minute the GXP pulled level with his rear bumper and was clearly going to run him down him. Claimed that one was a win for the Mustang.

I demanded a rematch and this time just watched his front the end. The minute he tried to jump I just punched it and ended up pulling away by a little over a car length.

He claimed I jumped this time So I told him 2 out of 3.

Final run I won, was braking and saw him coming in for the fly by. I picked up speed a little and waited for him to pull level with my rear bumper. Hit the gas. He made it up to my B pillar and then I started pulling again. He and my girl's bro slunk off to some party after that, never even stopped, just hit the exit ramp and were gone.

Good kill... was the GT auto or 5spd? I know the LS4 GPs run *around* the same times as 5spd 99-04 GTs stock, but I think they have a bit better trap speed.

My bad on the term. A GP GTX owner taught me how to launch so I guess I picked up the wrong term from him.

Irunelevens: It was an auto stang. According to what I know that thing should run 14.1s at like 95. When I bought the GXP I was told 14.4 at 98. My personal best is 14.1 at 100. I think there is still room for improvement as I learn to launch better. Launching this FWD beasties is tough.

KingNothing: Wow, that a moron. Unless he threw a lot of money at that car they don't gain speed easily and even with the power they still have trouble putting it on the ground by serious muscle car standards. With bolt ons I saw a GXP post a 13.7. The turbo GXP up in Canada 12s which is pretty impressive.

It's all good.. I was wondering if you mixed terms or just didn't know any different. Cheers.

14.1 would be a phenomenal time for a 99-04 GT automatic with just exhaust... POSSIBLE, yes. But I'd say more like 14.3 or so. And trap speed of 97-98mph. Either way, you should have won

Sigh, there is always one...

RWD is far superior to FWD in terms of performance. Once I'm done with Grad School I'll get the Black WS6 with T-Tops I've always wanted, figure out how to drop a LS3 and some stuff in there and it will slap my GXP around all day at the track.

That being said, bring your 04 GTO up to Michigan in say Feb or so. We can cruise up to the Houghton Winter Carnival. I'll be a good sport and give you a lift after your RWD introduces itself to the ditch on the side of I-75. We have this little thing called 'multiple feet of snow' and I personally like being able to drive Nov-April of every year. Given I can't afford two cars in the garage [heck I can't even afford the garage] I had to buy FWD.

The car doesn't get traction in first anyway, so how would this help?

Okay he's full of **** for a couple of reasons.

First off at 250 wheel horse my car likes to torque steer when I put the pedal halfway down. To drop 440 down through the wheels, I mean I gues sit could be done with a full suspension replacement, new trannie, etc, etc, but that would be insane.

Second, there are very few mods for the LS4 out on the market. Air filter, exhausts, a few other tweaks and a turbo kit. Even with a turbo the car only hits mid 12s and I don't think is making anywhere near 440 WHP.

Unless your boy has a lot of $ and paid to have a lot of custom work he's full of ****.

Funny side story, my boss also has a GXP (bastard copied me) and there is a rev limiter that hits at 3,500. His son had the car out and wanted to rev at a Mustang. He found if you hold the shifter between P and R you can get around the rev limiter. He was up around redline when he twitched and basically did a neutral drop into reverse at a stop light. Did about 8k in damage to his car and the Accord behind him.

Smart kid.
