Default my TA vs a built 350 camaro

the camaro is my brother in laws, it is a fully built 350. he say he has about 7k in the motor and hopes for 400+ rwhp. i have no clue, don't know much about the older small blocks. anyway, has a 350 turbo trans with stock gears. went from 30-130. I was happy how it turned out, as much as he has done, I thought I would get spanked.

I also had 210lbs camera man, so would have been a different race without him. enjoy!

built 350 vs ls1

I raced him when he had a stock 350 with all the bolt ons and it wasn't even close.

and why is this so hard to believe. my car will dyno 350+ and is a m6 to his auto....

and this is what he "claims" I don't know really..

The IROC is a 355 car with Brodix heads, decent cam, nice *** carb and a good intake. The T/A is an M-6 dynos in the 350-360rwhp and traps 111-113mph. BTW- I had a few friends with 305's when I was in high school and they went in the 16's in the 1/4 mile with bolt ons===******* SLOW!!!!!!!

Honestly 355's dont impress me anyways.....my buddy has a Nova, 13:1 comp. huge cam, nice carb, good intake. Slciks, skinnies, stahl, transbrake, 4:56 gears and runs 11.50's. IROC isnt impressive to me. I will find out his exact setup.

Hey, my 305 TBI Forumla did 15.7 with just headers, cat, catback!!!

Oh wait, that's still slow....

Great race, OP. Your M6 definitely gives you the advantage from a roll, so he probably is making quite a bit more power than you to pull slightly in his A4.

If you're making 350-360, his 400rwhp hopes are probably a bit high, though. More like 380ish maybe at the most I would think (but what the hell do I know...).

EDIT - Wait a minute, just reread. Do you mean he has stock 2.73s??? That would be a different story. If he pulled like that from a roll against your M6 with 3.42s and he's running 2.73s in an auto, he very well may be pushing the 400rwhp mark. Those gears are absolutely KILLING him.

The funny thing is he doesnt he even know what gears he has. Also its a TH350 tranny. He said from that 30 roll he was at 5500rpms? Correct me if am wrong but that tranny is just 1st,2nd and drive? So maybe someone can guess what kinda gears he has?

If thats the case it will be a decent dig car with some 4:10s and Drag radials...he has a 3500 stahl on it now but has some bald *** skinny street tires.

Yikes, 4.10s will be a little steep for a 3-speed auto if it's going to be driven at all on the street. But if it's a track car, DO IT.

???

He pulled on an Fbody with 350-360 at the wheels and you would beat him with 300rwhp?

I know Mach 1s and Fbodys are a very close race stock for stock, but I don't see how that would happen. Did you race the OP by any chance? That might give us more insight to the situation. Just curious.

EDIT - I also realize your gears would help, but that still seems like a big power difference to overcome in two similar weight cars.

yes we are brothers so we have raced many times. from a 40 cory would jump a car and hold it there till 120. from a dig he would beat me pretty bad, my 342s just can't hang with him through the first two gears. his 410s and mts drag radials is a good combo on the street. we never raced from a 30 which is my best speed and in between gears for cory so it would have been real close.

ps - I don't want to hear about how that shouldn't happen. My car runs very good and I am a very good driver. Corys mach was a freak and he is a GREAT driver. I can't explain the outcomes. this has been discussed many times here.
