Default 01 Z28 vs daytona charger

Ran a daytona charger, my mods in sig. I had my dad as apassenger and the charger had his wife. Mods on charger unknow, probably stock. The charger appeared to be a daytona edition, orangish with the black stripes.
1st
I see him pass me and dont pay much attention, we get to a stop light with me behind him and he chirps the tires on take off so i figure hes game. I try to pull up next to him, im in second coming up on his side when he punches it so i lay into it as well we started at about 40ish and i ended up about 2 cars ahead by 90.
2nd
I slow down, wanting to get a clean run in when hes about a car back he punches it, im in third at the time and im going 50, he flys by me when im at his rear door i get it into second and he pulls 1 1/2 cars, i catch up to his rear door at about 90 and have a nose on him at 110 where we shut down. Nice guy he was older probably mid to late 30s. Gave him a wave and turned around cause i missed my turn.
My dad said it brought back memories, he used to have a 69 SS camaro

Nicely done...definately a close race stock for stock...lid/catback gave you the win.

the daytona chargers have the 5.7 nt the 6.1 so it was not a srt8 but good kill.

SRT8 would have definitely been a closer race. Good kill, and good job making your dad proud!

Nice kill. It was probably an SRT-8. You should spank a regular stock Daytona. Low 14's max.

they did make a killer bee edition that has the 6.1 srt8 engine but it looks like a regular daytona.

what hood did it have? all the srt-8s have a big hood scoop, and the 5.7's have the flat hood. I think a daytona srt-8 would be pretty cool though...minus 2 doors.

Nice kills. Definitely a Daytona (high 13s max, btw), not an SRT-8 since the races were short and you kept catching up and pulling. There are no orangish SRT-8s unless custom painted.

That second part I don't agree with. I didn't realize I was "older".

True, but lot's of hood scoops showing up on R/Ts now, the Brembos and the SRT-8 front clip are more definitive (and of course stinkin' badges!).

A manual SRT8 would be pretty cool.

Nice runs.

The Mopar drift Charger has a N/A 600+ Hemi w/ 6spd. Imagine drifting 3800lbs! Im sure it much lighter as a race car.

I've seen 2 Chargers that were painted up like a normal Daytona Charger but both had the SRT8 badges and hood scoop.

One was a light blue and the other was orange....

I hadn't seen any like this until recently so perhaps they've started producing them and your information is outdated.

I raced a base model 5.7 Hemi Charger at the track when 4.10 gears were my only mod....He got the jump on me badly and since it was my first time down the track ever I had no clue what I was doing and let out of the throttle at 1/2 track....I walked him badly and still beat him badly while coasting down the last 1/2 of the track......I ran a 13.8 at like 94mph I believe....lol

The OP most likely ran an SRT8.........A 5.7 Charger would have been beaten badly
