If the guy asked you if it was boosted and you were running 14's (yes i know your alt sucks) then he's ******* retarded, bottom line. Of course there is always someone faster and we know LSx's can be beat, noone said they couldn't

i was reading on that post where the guy listed all those times from mustang forums. on the first one from those times it says a N/A bolton manual tranny 3v gt put down a 1.45 60 ft, i call BS. there is no way a bolton, stick gt is cutting those kinds of times. ill be damned if a bolt on M5 GT is out 60ing my H/C ls1 with a 3500 stall and 373 gears by .2 secs, now way that must be a typo.

You speak too soon. Sea level boyz don't even know what it's like to race in the mountains. My car ran a 13.9 out here and yes, I get asked if I have boost. 14's is not bad here, It's like 13's@ sea level breaking into 13's out here is as difficult as doing 12's at sea level. I think I little bit more difficult.

Here's two cars I think you respect at my track Since you wanna go there.

Roush Stangs are like Saleens, they have different stages. Of course the supercharged ones are faster. The Stage 1's have a few body kits on them and a different exhaust that gives them a lil more power, but that's it. It depends on which Roush it is.

13's is slow, sea level or on mount everest. I do know what a big difference altitude makes though. Still pretty weird seeing those LS cars running 14's,lol.

I went to California and talked to some guys there and when I told them what they would run out here, they looked at me like I was insulting them. Yes, 13's is slow, but to us, it's respected like you would 12's. 12's are respected like 11's etc....

NO, the roush is just a body kit, unless you get the stage 2 then the performance modding begins, Like a crappy V6 supercharger on a V8.

Listen, Mustang guys. Mod for mod the mustang will never catch up to an LSx Camaro, the weight of the GTO or CTS is a factor on it's performance as well as the IRS rear.

The Camaro is Lighter than both those cars and about the same as the Mustang. The camaro has a Larger displacment over 1 liter, and sports 20-40 more HP. as soon as you start modding the LS1 those gains will increase exponentually. for instance, just an intake on a mustang (without tune like K&N no maf change) you will see 5-10hp but on the Camaro with a Lid. twice that. Just headers on the 4.6L 15-20hp LSx almost twice that, and the killer is Cams, you cam a 4.6L max seen is 30hp yet on an LSx up to 100hp. the LS1 camaro was a fast production car no one can deny that.

Ford built the S197 Mustang without any competition so they decided to continue with the 4.6L line, still using 20th centry technology. GM is making new engines (GenV) that with direct injection are producing the same HP and TQ from a V6 as the Mod Motor. Ford still is not planning on any new generation motors for the next 2009 -10 model years so all we can try to do is stay 2 or three mods ahead to win races. the New camaro I hope will use a GenV engine but so far news clips are suggesting the LS3 will be the choice.
I fear that the new camaro SS was built as more of a compeditor to the Challenger and GT 500 than the mustang, it's weight will be close to the GTO but no denying that it still will be fast but not as fast as a Gen 4 FBod. you guys got a gem of a car, congrats.

The Camaro is Lighter than both those cars and about 150 pounds heavier than the Mustang. Yeah you need to come to Midland or Odessa TX. Only modded f bodies run mid 13's if your luck and get some cold, humid air you can run low 13's. It's common to run low 14's in a stockish f bodies that is fast for most cars here

Well put but f bodies dont gain that much as you think they do. They just reponse better in the higher RPM's then mustangs. If you get a lid maybe 5 hp, headers 20hp, cam about 70hp or course with no tunes. Now mustangs if you put cams on them, they dont gain as much as f bodies so your right. Now on the weight f bodies weight about the same as the new mustangs
But i like the way you put it all together.Good info. I'm not talking bad about mustangs they are amazing cars. Some ppl just need to drive one that is modded then maybe just maybe ppl can see what the deal is with them.
Thats my 2 cents......no 8 cents due to inflation

I weighed mine at the track, with me in it it was 3701
me weighing 220 that makes my car weight in at 3480 lbs and thats and automatic
with 1/4 tanks gas stock wheels - spare tire and jack removed.

But your right the 4th Gen is 3450 - 3490 SS to 3530 lbs WS6 I should say equal weight. My bad

the 2010 Camaro will most likly weight closer to 3850 it's a much larger car then the 4th gen

yes 12.8-9's are not uncommon with a stock 4th Gen LS1.
and yes there have been some stock S197 reaching 13.1's

even at equal weight (as established earlier)
the Stock GT 300HP
the Stock Camaro (Avg 350hp) it should be 2-3 10ths faster.
Ok sure the 02 being faster than the 05 3 year difference I got that,
but the 05 had no competition except the Charger r/t and the 04 GTO
(05 GTO was late to the game being realesed after the Mustang on 04)
but both are capable cars but all slightly slower than the Mustang with more HP. (Yes again the mustang has always been behind in HP, Got it)
I guess since the 90's sales of the mustang has been steady that there were other reasons people bought mustangs than HP. that also goes for the 1999-2002 FBod, yet even though GM threw HP at it, the sales still fell.
I am not a huge fan of the 1998-2002 FBod (Except the WS6) but I have always been Trans Am Fanatic, I would like to own one of all years if I could.

I am just going on what people on other 4th Gen forums say they get with Mods. but your statment is correct, Remember this is my First ford and I drove a Modded S197 and I liked it, I already liked the look so I was sold.
(I sure wish GM was brining back the Trans Am ) I want one so bad.
for me it's looks before power, but thats just me, remember is am 46 years old so the 4th gen does not look good to me.

Where?

Evan Smith pulled a 13.3 @ 103mph... and the fastest I've ever seen prove of was a 13.27 on a 1.8 60ft in mineshaft air....

Have anything to back up a 13.1 claim?
