Default 02 Z28 vs 05+ Stang GT

So i was out cruising around, i look in my rear view and spot an 05+ GT coming up behind me. So i let the car coast, and he comes up right beside me and gives me a quick rev, so i give 1 back. There's alot of traffic at the moment, so were just there next to eachother. We finally get a red light....

While were there, he edges up a bit. So i then edge up too and spun the tires just a bit, but no badly or anything. Revved the car to about 1500 RPM & kept an eye on the lights. Light hit green & we take off. We both spin a bit, but not badly. He get's ahead of me to about my nose being at his front wheel. He's got a Manual, & at this point im thinking "**** he's gonna get me" but then i start pulling him in slowly, and start getting ahead & begin pulling on him slowly. I would say i got atleast half a car to a full car length ahead before we finally shut it down due to the next red light. As we get up to the red light, he signals me to lower the window, then ask's what i got. Told him, im stock & he was like "no ****" in a surprised way. I was like yeaa, completely forgot to ask him for his mods but im assuming he was still stock too or basically same mods as me w/ exhaust & intake.

Im happy as hell, finally got to run a newer model GT. Now i know what there capable of and can pretty much see a well modded 1 will get me. His car wasnt bad either, & seemed like a cool guy. Didnt seem mad or anything....

Yeah, I noticed that too... good run OP. A lot of people (on this site, especially) like to underestimate what the S-197s can do with a good driver, but apparently you got to see. Good luck with future races

Yeah, but I'd still never call a catback/lid/bellows car "stock." The OP probably has ~15rwhp over a stock car, atleast.

x2, no wonder the mustang owners make fun on an LS1 owner anytime they utter the words stock... 99% of the LS1 owners don't know what it means.

I call my car stock because it looks stock and almost sounds stock. It's way more fun that way

The GT really reminds me of the LT1. All grunt down low but loses steam quick. Good kill!

Yeah, they generally trap one or two mph faster than the New Edge (99-04) GTs, but are capable of running around a half second quicker in the quarter mile... they are definitely strongest from a dig.
