The car would have to be a shell or have every bolt on possible...I can run down a C5Z06 with no problems, I've been beaten by 1 C6Z (the only one I've raced) by 3-4 cars to 140mph.

a c5z can be run down pulley only. a port and sra car should drag a c5z. your car with an sra and a pulley/port setup should go 10's at close to 130. high end pull like 140+ the c6z would shine.

I'm well aware of what both cars are capable of. The C6Z was not stock either. It had an intake and tune and was right at 480rwhp.

Since I don't have all the safety gear, will only run it to the 1/8th mile unless its end of night then I'll do a bonzai pass and get promptly booted for the evening.

A Mach 1 wasn't meant to be a drag car? What was it meant to be then? Please, do tell. I wanna hear this.

LOL!!

So you decided to impart your wise words of racing responsibility inside a street racing forum?

It's times like these I like to quote Mark Twain, "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt."

Wrong car - the Vette isn't a drag car.

Tony - notice that I never suggested an alternative to your actions. I was simply passing judgement upon YOUR actions.

If you would like some "wise words", then how are these? Buy a cage, install it. Buy some safety clothing and helmet, wear it. Spend $20 to go to a drag strip when you want to race. To have a car like that, you obviously have enough money to afford it.

As for the location of these words (inside a street racing forum), it really doesn't do much good to go tell this to a bunch of guys at the NHRA forum, does it? They've already got the point.

Regarding Mark Twain, I think you should have thought of his words prior to starting this thread.

Allow me to be more specific - a stock 2007 Corvette Z06 was not primarilly designed to be the fastest drag race car in America.

And a Mach 1 was? C6Z's are nasty. Don't make excuses for them.

Pretty lame argument to be honest.

The stick Mach 1 was the car that Ford wanted to be modded, thats why they gave it the forged internals and a straight axle. It is not a replacement for the Corvette, not even the same catagory. Some Mustangs may beat a Vette, some may even beat a Z06 Vette. Just not stock for stock, a Stang even a new Shelby Cobra, IMO are not competors, just that the Vette out classes the Stang. Now if you want a comparrison of Ford and Chevy do a ZR1 VS a GT40!Forcedinduction VS forced induction, in all reality the Vette will still win, the GT40 has what 540 HP IIRC and the new ZR1 has over 600 HP, the main differance is displacement!

The Mach 1 doesnt come from the factory with forged internals aside from the crank. The rods are powdered metal and the pistons hypereutectic.

I'm sorry - I didn't realize that I said that the Mach 1 was. I think that Tony is well on his way to building his as such, though. And, since the race was between Tony's car and a stock Z06, then mine was a valid statement.

And, they're not that nasty. Stock is still stock, even if it is 500hp and 3000lbs. I've beaten a few on a road course. And I'm just 350rwhp and 2900lbs. Modifications mean everything when it comes to racing.

Uh...Not that I don't appreciate your view point, cause I do. I used to preach the rules of racing as well. (still do in some aspects). However, I would like to point out two things:
1) You don't know if the Vette was stock.
2) you don't know the area in which Tony raced, nor the conditions of the surroundings.

***-u-me is a nasty word.

ANd yes, Holy 3 weeks old batman.

Great Kill Tony.

Care to provide data to prove that? That implies a 150-200lb weight differential which isn't there.

I think if there is any deviance it is due to development and more '06s being drag raced since it's a first year model. Not to mention time of year and tracks...

^Good point, Deuuuce. As far as I know (and I don't know much), the '07s are basically the same as the '06s whereas the '08 started getting the updated steering, transmission, and interrior options (read more weight).

This thread won't die! Good kill OP, your Mach 1 is no joke!

+1

I think 1.8 was my best 60' when I had Nittos with my 3600 stalled/camed car.

So yeah, you're a hell of a driver and at a good track
