Turbo? TC tried today
I was cruising down the highway back from DC to chesapeake va today, doing 70 on a 65 road in the right lane 6th gear when a blue scion Tc pulles up next to me. He paces me, looks over and revs it.
I didn't hear a blow off but when I looked over he had the same triple guage pod I have so I assumed he had a turbo. I drop down to 4th and give him the nod and wait. He honks it off then floors it, when I heard him go then I mashed it. Went from 70 to 115ish in a few seconds with him a bus or so back.
I would like to think that the split second glimps I caught of his face was the "oh **** me" look before he started receding in the mirror. I slowed back to 70 when i hit the next pack of traffic, he pulled along side and gave a thumbs up. only then did I catch his plate which was "bye pony".
I give the other driver full marks for bravery in challenging and courtesy in loosing. too bad his car doesn't have as much ***** as he does.

Probably was turbo, they run about even with a decently modded 4.6L mustang. I have a raced 2 in my old LS1 Z, pulled about 3-4 cars on them, so they have a lil kick to them.
Good kill btw

From what I've read, putting a turbo on a TC is fairly common. The kit must be very affordable and the install is probably easy in terms of FI. He'll probably think twice before messing with another F-body.

the Super charged came from the factory if you got the option.
and whats even funnier i watched a guy using a 75 shot of nitrous and still ran like 10.1 in the 1/8

And on top of that, they don't get that great of gas mileage. We took my GF's on vacation and couldn't even clear 30mpg.

it was probably far more than one bus, but at speeds over 100 I tend to focus more on the road ahead than counting multiples of buses of the car behind me. In retrospect after he honked and I heard him floor it there was no ready evidence he was actually racing.

I've seen a video before of a TRD scion. With a good driver, it was in the mid-high 12's as I recall. Every video was of it beating a masaratti spyder down the 1/4. Not to bad for what it is...but still no where near a blown stroked ls....or a H/C/I car for that matter.

Ouch. We have a turbo TC around here. I talked to him at one of the local meets, and he said he was going to go with the S/C from TRD, but it only put the crank horsepower at 290. A Greddy turbo put it at almost 360. So that's what he did. That being said, the torque is so incredibly low that my friends Nissan Sentra 2.5S kicked his ***, turbo and all. Good kill for you, btw, man. It's always nice to see someone in an import that doesn't act like an *** when they lose.

thank you. when I was running my dunlop 5000 hard *** street tires it would spin in 4th around 90mph. finally put a set of nitto's on it. This was my first race on tires that would hook. another week or so and I am gonna swap blower pulleys and redyno. last time I was spinning on the dyno so I am really curious as to what the read out will be this time.

Was this sentra modded? No way a sentra without some serious modifications took out a turbo tC (assuming no driver or mechanical error).
To the OP: I read the story and was like "cool, tC driver was a good sport" then looked at your sig and thought "holy mother of God, how was he even able to see the tC after about 3 seconds?" It sounds like he must have had a pretty nice running tC to even stay in your rearview. Nice car and nice run.
