Default So i lost to an 05+ GT

05+ Red GT: Manual w/ Exhaust & that's about it. Appearance was stock.

Roll Race, from about 35 to 40mph upto ???. I didnt pay much attention to my speed, would say 70 to 80 or so. Not a very long race....

Im out cruising and this red GT comes up beside me as he's passing and throws me a rev and then slows it back down. Then throws another rev as i get next to him and takes off quickly. So i hit it and catch back up to him, and get right next to him. We go for a few, then hit it and of course his being a Manual car. He pulls ahead on me hard, and as i finally begin to get good traction. I start pulling him in pretty quickly, and im just coming up on him and as i get the nose of my car to about the back of his front wheels. He shuts it down?? I was like ******* **** lol I just lost because he shut it down & was still ahead. Dont get it wrong, im not complaining at all but damn i was coming up on him lol

These 05+ Stang GT's are impressing me, would like to see how a modded one would run.

Just a case of it being too short of race probably. It's happened to me as well when having a short sprint with a slower car. Don't sweat it, in a full on race you should have him. Can't always account for mods either, sometimes ppl have more than what their car lets on from sound/appearance.

I know, it was just a little jest to all the LS1 nuthuggers who think the GT cannot beat them from any speed to any speed.
If the race had kept going you would have had him for sure, nice run.

If I get caught anywhere in between 40 and 50, I'm playing catch up like a son of a bitch. He caught you in your car's bad spot. Yours didn't downshift worth a damn did it?

Nope, and he also got me in the spot where my car has traction problems. Idk if its normal for A4 LS1's but at around 35 or so, i put it to the floor & im spinning the tires. Not badly, just to the point where there not hookin up and getting the car moving faster. When they hook is when i began pulling him right back in.

His best bet without a nice list of bolt-ons is gonna be from low speeds... at higher speeds you're gonna pull. Nice run

I had the same thing happen to me awhile back. The guy got a huge jump on me (he said he was spraying a 50 shot) and I was relling him back in and he shut down. But I'm pretty sure he know i was catching him and that why he shut down but oh well you cant win them all.

No problems with the new stangs yet But, I am a manual and atleast 99 percent I see are autos. I would not sweat it. You should have them low and top end. Just caught you out of your power band. Should have honked off. Try again there are plenty of them out there.

3600 stall will take care of your low speed racing problem.

good runs... but yea 35 is a ls1 DREAM SPEED for rolls. so yea him being an manual and yours being an auto and you not punching at the right time will cause that. but if you went for more time you would of beat him easily. but with 05+ gts being impressive...? idn they havent impressed me any yet. also he could of had some more done to it, but who knows. good runs and good job to the gt for getting a win for once

Well i wouldve tried to honk it off, if he wouldnt punch it evertime i got up next to him. He was basically just trying to get me to hit it, and go with him. Instead of getting side by side and honking it off. I just tried to time it as best i could and hit it, when he did but of course. His being a Manual, he jumped out ahead quicker.

Ive only raced 2 05+ Gt's and 1 00-04 body style GT. The older model GT, i pulled on him pretty hard on a roll race. Im mainly impressed at how much better the 05+ GT's are now.

My sig.

LS1's have had plenty more years to mod while most new GT owners either get light mods, or don't mod but would rather pay the car off. Once a few years pass and these new one's get modded like you guys, you'll have some good runs and even deaths too.
