Default my 02 Z28 vs. 2008 BMW M6

So I have posted on here many times, mostly wins, but thought I would post up a decisively horrible thrashing that left my head spinning and my brain focused on one thing, I need to mod.

So being out here in California for the past year I have not had too many good runs, the occasional STi or C5 will appear giving me something to run against but unfortunately it is mainly ricers with fart cans and shopping cart spoilers, hence the reason I have nicknamed Cali ricer land. Well the other day I was traveling to work and came upon a nice looking burgandy M6. I kinda trolled behind it for awhile waiting to traffic to break. First off im not stupid, I know my car at 346 hp would not take the M6 with 500 hp. As I was trolling behind him I heard him down shift and lightly punch it to clear himself from being stuck behind a slow civic, upon punching i heard one of the most orgasmic sounding exhaust notes I have ever heard. It was beautiful. It definitely sounded like it had had some work done to it. Anyway I followed suit and came right up beside him gave him a head nod, this is where I knew I was dead. He gave me the biggest grin as if to say ok dumbass lets roll. I punched it hoping to get far enough ahead so he couldnt reel me back in. I was kinda right. I had a full car on him from third all the way through fourth. Then it happened. As I was nearing 120 he started to reel me in and then he started to walk away from me. Coming up to a windy stretch of road I thought I might be able to catch him as he slowed to take the turns, well I was wrong. Not only did he not slow, but he kept accelerating taking the turns at at least 130, I had slowed to 100 seeing as i was on stock suspension. I could not believe how that car stuck to the road through those turns with minimal body lean at that. Afterwards I caught up to him and gave him a thumbs up and a tip of the hat. A very, very sick car in my opinion.

My buddy has a 540i and you wouldnt believe how well it rides at 130-140. They are definately made for the autobahn. I think from a roll he would probably keep up with my z28. Athough i would rip him from a take off. But i can only imagine how fast an m6 is.

Nice race. Those cars are pretty sick, but I like the M5s even more because a 4 door family sedan with that kind of performance is just ridiculous. There's an M6 around where I live and I've been hoping to run into him, but the only times I've seen him I was in my DD and then once he pulled off into a restaurant before I got next to him in the Camaro. Ah well, hopefully it will happen soon enough. I'm hoping I can hang until the top of fifth (140ish). I know they are MADE to go top end, but with my 4.10s and short fifth gear in this tranny, my car pulls hard up through fifth.

M6 is my dream car. I drove one at the BMW charity event they held out here under Susan G Koman or however it's spelled, and my god, what a car. Especially with the manual. Just rips ***. Pulled consectuive 11.9/12.1 1/4ths, and made a couple 2 minute laps.

The M6 is a very nice car, and congrats on a good run.

Nice run.

I think the M6 will run a mid 12 in the 1/4 so it is fast but nothing a bolt-on and cammed LS1 couldn't handle.

Actually, I'm pretty sure most cammed LS1s couldn't handle an M6, especially once they got into triple digit speeds. Some maybe, but not most.

Yeah, they're pretty fast cars... faster than their ETs might allude to. Good loss OP, but it actually sounds like a stock M6 to me.

Haha man, I know exactly what you mean, living in Riverside myself too lol. And yea those beamers are sick in the turns. I ran a late 90's M3 just past Poly HS on Central Ave., pulled on him up till about 90mph when I had to slow to take those curves going up towards Alessandro, he just kept on going like it was nothing.
Good death tho, believe I saw that M6 the other day if it happened in Riverside. Guess it was good I was riding with a friend or I'd have been killed too . Actually I think I saw your car as well a few days ago, at Chicago/University intersection. Looked red, but maybe that was from the sun, had z06 wheels.

Man, 12.3 at 108 is hooking UP. Damn autos and their impressive ETs...

Most of the 12 second F-bodies we see at the track running stock M6's cross the finish line first, with a lower trap speed. To pull on a M6 at highway speeds, it's going to take closer to 430 rwhp (and change)....they are SICK up top and just keep pulling!

Yeah sometimes I miss the freedom of the Autobahn.. I remember I hit the speed limiter in a '90 Accord(110-120ish) not even thinking about it because I was keeping up with traffic. Cruising at 80 mph on I-95 is a snooze compared to those Autobahn days.
