Default I killed myself vs a 03/04 Cobra last night

I'm an idiot... yep I said it.

Last night on my way home I merged onto the freeway @ around 3:45am and saw a nice red mustang cobra up ahead. I passed him at first, but slowed down to get next to him and he slowed as well to match my speed. So here I am @ ~50mph in second gear and after a few seconds he starts to honk. On the third honk we both punched it... but something was wrong -- I didn't go anywhere!

Stupid me left TCS on, so since my tires are complete crap right now, my car lost traction, killed the throttle on me and made me look like a fool. To top it off when my car finally decided I was allowed to race I missed third like a n00b (I blame it was 3:45am and the TCS through my timing off... yeah thats it)

So I was really pissed at myself, it was my first time lining up with a 03/04 Cobra, and I didn't even give myself a chance to see how I would have done

It happens, I've forgotten to close the sunroof before racing before, pesky drag. Just remember it for next time.

Yeah I'm just chalking it up to "one of those nights". I'm just more annoyed because I never ever get good races out here, and I blew a good chance to run a car I really would have loved to see the outcome of -- win or lose. Anyone want to start guessing how I would have done if I wasn't such a n00b?

Don't you hate that ****?? I had my tuner pull TCS out of my tune (who needs that crap anyway if you know how to drive??). It really annoyed the hell out of me...

I've had a lot of things like that happen to me.. get caught with your GF who would destroy your night if you street-raced and there he is... the perfect competitor all lined up next to you and ready to run at the perfect moment (ok, no nutless comments cause I like my nights to have "happy endings"). ah well.. there's always next time.

Not too many 03/04 Cobras running around though.. that would be really hard to resist.

Been there, done that. It definitely sucks. My traction control has been turned
off permanently (in the tune) for a long time now.

The LEAST of your problems is TCS! Us little 3-350whp guys stress out over it. I'm not sure if the system wouldn't shut down ( or pull MASSIVE timing) with your setup.

In my case, the system cuts fuel and it feels like you hit a brick
wall when the traction control comes on when you're at WOT.
It's not like the ASR / TCS in LS1 vehicles...although I hated it in
my LS1 also. It's cost me several races in the Cobra to some very
weak cars too.

It pulls timing in the S197's... no fuel cut. that would be even worse in the event of a WOT traction loss.

yahh traction control sucks real bad. Most of the mustang guys turn it off for good when they get their tunes. And if you were about to race an 03-04 you prob would have gotten killed if he was down to honk like that. Something to look forward to... Next time you will do better because you can't really do any worse lol.

Happens to me from time to time. I shut it off in my tune but then it threw the abs trouble light and I can't stand that. I just gotta keep my head out of my *** and remember to shut it off.

I was just about to say the same thing. I don't think your quite ready for the snake yet. If he was stock it may have been a good run though.

you would have lost regardless of TCS. i raced one last week (mods in sig) from about a 50 roll too, he just punched it and i tried to follow, needless to say he put several lengths on me. once i caught up i slowed it down and honked it off, i jumped out about a fender, or maybe half a car and then he started creeping on me, but there was a stop sign ahead, so we shut it down to soon to really tell anything. o yeah, he said he was stock except for an x-pipe. and its bugging the hell outa me my car it doing funny things, i need to work on my tune, and probably replace the spark plugs

I'm not saying I would have won, hell I really didn't expect to. It would have been a fun race and I wanted to see how I would have held up. Ah well, there's always next time like was already said... hopefully that next time also means I'll have more mods =)
