i was at the flash light drag races today just to mess around. its a 1/8 track but i raced 4 cars. i only lost one race out of 4 and i was just really testing how the car was hooking and shifting because the problems i had with it a coulpe weeks ago but anyway on to the racing. i dont know if anyone has got the chance to race the 2009 str8 challenger 425hp yet but i seen it and just had to run it.

race 1. i had a boy in a mustang run up to me to race. it was a 80 something mustang with a 400 small block chevy and th400 and a 2 stage nos kit. i hole shotted him and he hit the nos and all i seen was his bumper .

race 2. i had to basically beg the guy to race me with his 2009 dodge challenger srt8 with 425hp. i kept asking him to race me and he said no twice then i finally told him i was a 98 bone stock ls1 with headers and 4.10 gear. so he finally said ok and we was talking while going up to the lanes he said he ran a 13.02 and a 13.03 at the 1/4 track. im telling him i never had my car out this was the first time and i just want to see how my stock ls1 holds up against a 425hp car because there isn't a dyno in my town, the guys all smilling and i guess thinkin he was gonna walk me. well we get to the water box i made sure i heated my m/t up good, i holeshoted the guy on the flash light and by 60 foot i had my dad said half a car and by 1/8 i had 2 to 2 1/2 cars and i ran 12.92 1/4@107mph and in the 1/8 my mph was 83mph but every pass i made today 1/8 mph was 90mph. my buddy with the cobalt had his friend there video taping every race so im gonna see if i can get a copy just so nobody calls bull **** on this run with the challenger.

race 3. raced my buddy and his cobalt ss just to get a race. i beat him by a good bit i went threw the 1/8 trap at 93mph.

race 4. i ran a 71 camaro with a 350 built cam heads dual tunnel ram with th400 and 4.10 gear. he sput coming out the hole he said but he was on my fender around the 330 mark and stayed that way threw the 1/8. the best run i had the hole night with another car staying with me or me staying with them, it was a very close race but i got to the trap first if it would have been a 1/4 track he would of walked around me after the 1/8 because he closed the gad from my door to fend in the 330 and then by the 1/8 it was a nose everyone watching said.

all in all im very surprised with the way my little 98 is holdin her own against these boys around here, for being bone stock other then gear and headers. all my passes have been with the stock converter. i have a fm-14 cam,heads and intake and th400 thats going in over the winter. when i made my 12.92 @107mph 1/4 pass about 2 weeks ago the car wasnt shifting and it was hitting the rev limiter so i had to let off the gas for it to shift each shift 1-2 2-3 but i found the problem was 2 holes in my trans lines they brushed into the pulley i guess and it rubed the holes in it so we replaced both lines and it has been ok since and today was the first chance i got to really open the car up and stay in it for a pass.

Bone stock...with headers gears, stall, and catback...?

what no one every told some one they were stock to get a race. i did tell everyone the car does have headers and gear thats it. i call it stock because i havent did anything but headers and gear. i took the x pipe off the car i run it open headers now it only goes out to the track never on the street unless im bored. but its always open headers.

just open headers and gear the stall was in my last trans when it blew and i havent had time to send it out to be cleaned and restalled. so no stall in my car its the stock converter.

'08 Challenger or '09? Automatic? I was told the '09s come out next month. They have the 6m with the LSD and 3:90 FD, stock.

I'f I'm buying $40k 2door (albeit a large one), I would prefer the manual myself.

OP: How do you run a 12.92 @ 83mph?

i think he means its 83 in the 1/8th mile and doesn't have a mph for the 1/4?

the 12.92 1/4 was at 107mph i was stating my 1/8 mph on the 12.92 run was at 83mph. this week i ran at a 1/8 track i was saying my 1/8 mph this time out was in the 90mph range.

when i said i ran 1/8 mile at 83mph and i turned a 12.92 in the 1/4 @ 107 mph and now im runing 90mph in the 1/8 im saying my car is running better because of the trans problems i had with the car.

i thought the challengers were all 09s but anyway it had 81 miles on it and it was a auto. i wasnt aware that they had a 08 out i thought they just released it as 09 sorry my fault.

i ran a 12.92 @ 107mph in the 1/4 track two weeks ago and the car wouldn't shift unless i lifted off the gas and let it shift and i ran 12.92 @ 107mph in the 1/4. SINCE THEN I FIXXED MY SHIFT PROBLEMS. i couldnt make it to the 1/4 track this weekend. but i went to a 1/8 track and ran in the 90 mph range on all 4 passes.

Yeah you had some issues...I was going 85mph in the 1/8th and 108 in the 1/4...

Nice kill on the Challenger. Nothing like sending a guy that just dropped $50000 on a car home with a spanking. I like those cars but I just can't get past the fact they are Dodges.

i run 13.1 in my stck 02 z28 a4 with a fucked up lsd. so i think his time is realistic

Strong, but 335is and SRT-8s have open diffs, so I doubt the LSD (or lack of) is really hurting you.

What speed though?

2.5 cars with 4.10 gears does not surprise me here. The Challengers are heavy and are 13 sec cars...14 if is an inexperienced driver. Good Kill!
