Default C5 conversion brackets

I know LG has a "kit" that has everything (rotors, mounts, calipers, etc...), but I'm looking for JUST the brackets. I want to reuse my calipers (save some money) and a guy can get me a good deal on rotors.

Yep, call Lou. Their kit is customize-able. You can add/subtract whatever parts you need. When I picked up mine from them last Christmas, I saved some $$ by not getting the calipers too. However, I will say now that I regret going with the f-body calipers...not from any performance issues, but more from longevity & cosmetic concerns...

They are $424 shipped from LG. I bought a pair, used my stock rotors and pads, with some aimco C5 rotors.

It's un-Godly, the cost of CNC machining, especially on a relatively small scale. Most haven't a clue as to the real cost of such things.

Not to mention the cost of alternative "big brake" packages. This LG kit is a tremendous deal especially when you consider its flexibility.

At $400 a set, I doubt he's clearing $50 on them.

Plus, I'd be comfortable that a very important bracket, that has to take the stress of repeatedly stopping our 3500+ lb cars at speeds of triple digits, is well designed from Lou.

Besides, who here hasn't spent 300-600 dollars on a catback? Isn't that just some fancy bent metal tubing? lol

Doesnt someone else make a kit for $250. A guy here bought a set for that much and used stock C5 calipers from autozone for $26 bucks each. Anyone??

Yes. There is another bracket out there, made from steel. It's pick-up point is BEHIND the hub, using the hub bolts to hold it in place.

I just recieved a set of the brackets you referr to from bob bishop - they are most definitely aluminum - 6061, T6 temper.

I have one of the first runs of the new brackets - if you are interested in the quality of them strength and fatigue wise I can post some of the information Bob Bishop sent out to the mailing list - they were analyzed in a lab for strength, etc. concerns and came out well. I am very happy with them, and the price was very reasonable. (note that he isn't a sponsor, so probably not a good idea for anyone to post pricing information)

I had read on CC.com that Bob was in the midst of a redesign. Good looking bracket.

More or less than LGs?

Understand that you have to cut your spindles to get these to work for either an LS1 or an LT1.

With the LGMs you do not have to modify the spindle to make them fit.

If you ever wanted to Run a Skinny at the strip, you are 4 bolts, and a rotor swap away from putting the stock brakes on.

hmmm.....well thats good to know

How do the LGM brackets mount on the spindle vs. those that he posted above? Besides the need to modify (can't go back to small rotors), are there any other advantages/disadvantages to the different mounting styles?
