Default Thoughts/Pics: SLP Springs & Bilstein Shocks

I have been doing quite a bit of research and I am trying to decide between Bilstein HD's w/stock springs or SLP spec Bilsteins w/SLP Springs. I know the rears are the same shock. I am just curious as to just how much they lower the car (.5 inch or 1 inch?) and if sagging is a problem after a couple years. Also, dumb question maybe, are bump stops totally mandatory? what would happen if I didn't replace them?

I am currently on stock springs and shocks w/126k miles on my 02 Z28. Passenger rear shock is blown (thought it was my Bolt-in UMI SFC makin noise, but 90% sure its my shock blown since i retorqued the SFC to 90ish ft-lb).

PLEASE POST PICS & GIVE OPINIONS! Already searched, and the ones that posted pics, do not show up I guess cause the website coding changed a while back.

Thanks!
-Karl

Eibach springs in general can have issues with sag. SLP springs are made by Eibach, and have been known to do it.

If you want a little bit of drop and kick-*** handling and damping, then for similar (but not the same money) I'd sooner see you on Koni 4/3's and stock springs using the lower perch and isolator mod. Better dampers (which means better control and the ability to change the damping level and associated response and ride) and a bit of lowering as well with more durable springs. IMHO. And remember I sell SLP products as well.

Bilstein HD's vs. SLP springs and shocks isn't exactly a lateral move. I guess I'm wondering what the primary goals are here.

Karl,

Sam just gave you the best advice, period. If you have to stay under $500, and really can't swing the dough, the look at the Bilsteins. Frankly, I wish I had nutted up for the Konis, since I will be doing them anyway. Either way, it will be a much better car. Actually, the Konis will make them an entirely different car. If you want to go for a spin in a Bilstein/stock spring car, hit me up when you are in Katy next.

Thanks for the heads up yall! I am thinking about perhaps doing Front BMR springs and heater hose mod on the rear along with Bilstein HD's since I don't have 900 to spend. That setup would put me right at 600 bucks shipped from WS6Store.

I'll be callin you Jason!

Well, we'd be talking $854 shipped for Koni 4/3's....

For that matter, I have 2 sets of left over front springs (no rears). And with the Bilstein setup I use you'd also be looking at just about $600 shipped (maybe $615), and you'd have better valved rear shocks and IMHO better front springs--lighther ones if nothing else.

Hey Sam,

I am kinda of in the same boat. I have bought your springs and some Koni 1139 and 1265 sport. Are those what they are calling S/A? should I have nutted up for the 4/3's ?

You bought 4/3's... just a different term that's easy for folks to remember.

Well, 4/4's are the best ones being more adjustable, as well as easier and quicker to adjust. 4/3's are the next best (and not sucky<g>).

Any customer who bought their Koni's from me directly is encouraged to call me on the tech line for setup/setting up help.

Well I just got done installing them Fri night/sat morning. Did BMR fronts and Heater Hose rear. Looks pretty damn even and the shocks that ws6store sent me I think are SLP spec considering I got SLP paperwork with them haha even though I ordered HD's

It handles decent but with my 11's rolled fenders and BFH mod are needed without a doubt. On the street....it feels AMAZING....although I am sure Koni's would handle ten times better. Ride quality is pretty damn good and it doesn't feel like other harsher springs.
