brakes won't release
My brakes seem like they won't release all the way and the left front rotor is REALLY hot! Am I going to need a new caliper?

Have you changed pads lately? Has any work been done to the car?
If not, I'd look for stone damage to the steel lines that run to the front wheels. Make sure a rock or something hasn't crushed the brake line, which may cause it to hold pressure. That is just my first idea. Any info you can provide will help out.

Re: brakes won't release
I have been see 'n this problem alittle more latley as cars age;
The caliper slides seize up.
When the car does it, take the wheel off.
(it will be hot!!)
If you crack the bleeder & fluid flys out it is a hydraulic problem.
If not remove the 2 bolts securing the caliper & check the slides that allow it to move.
If they are seized either clean them up or get new "loaded" calipers.

Re: brakes won't release
Well yes I did change rotors and pads, but this is the reason I did it in the first place, but it didn't fix it. I got the power slot kit from thunder racing, which I have to call them now (sent me two left rears ).
wrencher now that you mention it I think those slides didn't want to move. Are they supposed to move the same as the back ones? Because those ones moved pretty freely, but the fronts didn't want to move at all. That could be my problem.
Thanks for the help guys.

Re: brakes won't release
Those slides sould move real easy, you should be able to pull them right out.
Loaded calipers come w/pads but they also give you the mounting bracket w/slides.
Where as a bare caliper is just that, the caliper alone.

Yeah that seems to be the problem. I got it apart and it wouldn't move at all. So I tore it down, but didn't have any grease for it so I'm still going to have to do it again.
Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it.

auto tensioner
the auto tensioner may need to return back to normal. at least this was the case on an older 1966 Dodge truck with all- drum brakes.
one other possibility: the emergency brake may have been over-tightened by your mechanic (or by you).
